A day out with good looking twins...
Discussion
... good looking, if aging a little...
A mate of mine gets through quite a few bikes, but they are usually relatively modern - it's good for me as often they are stuff that I'd otherwise have no contact with... Trans Alp, Multistrada and GS 1200(?) have been a few of his recent bikes. Incidentally, he rates the BMW as the best bike he has ever ridden and popped to the South of France on it t'other weekend, and is in Belgium on it this week.
However, his experience of older stuff is limited to a few CB Hondas and XS650s that he had when young.
We thought it was time he tried out a couple of my "old" bikes. So, we agreed for him to pop over my place and we'd have a blat round the lanes to AV8 Cafe at Kemble, then swap bikes and he could ride the other one back. I thought the Bonneville would be better as first bike, it has disc brakes, mirrors and indicators, unlike the SF750. My thinking was it would be less of a culture shock, so I led the way on the Laverda - it allowed me to set a reasonable speed so that he didn't "kid glove" the Bonny too much. To my surprise, he absolutely loved them both - I think the Laverda edged it. He's now talking about having a full day and going further afield... I think the only concern he had was having to brake on the Laverda in the case of an emergency, it's a left foot brake, right foot change.
Oh... and I'm not sure I'm in his wife's good books. Apparently he wouldn't stop talking all day about how much he'd enjoyed himself...

Cheers.
AV8's not a bad destination - 'twas well busy when we popped over last, helicopter rides.
You may have spotted this one, it's a regular visitor there, another of my mate's bikes - he built it himself (with a little help). It rides beautifully and has covered loads of miles, both here and abroad. Quite a contrast to the BMW GS.
