Hello all, having no garage I am trying to come up with a solution to keep my motorbike protected.

I keep coming back to this, are there any alternatives out there? https://www.asgardsss.co.uk/motorcycle-garage

Due to my house, it needs to be as small and discrete as possible, as its effectively going at the front of the house on the sort of driveway.

TIA

Looks a hell of a lot better than the Oxford Stormex I kept mine under for several years!
I didn't get a look at the specifications - my only concerns would be security: does it come with a decent lock &/or ground anchor? Condensation risk: is there a way to insulate it or otherwise combat damp?
Looks like a right faff to assemble. I put up a similar size metal garden shed a while back. Literally thousands of screws & took 2 people several hours to erect...

Ideally something like this would be great https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=C1hLddmybVs

But I cannot find anyone who sells these in the UK! Yes it's going to be a faff, but I'm on a country road, no where to hide the bike apart from putting it in a shed of some description.

Returning to biking after a 12 year hiatus I have put down a deposit and at some point the dealer will be pushing to drop it off I can only delay them so long.

Condensation will be a big problem with these tin sheds. Get a wooden shed and put in a couple of decent anchor points. smile

A wooden shed may be less secure, but also less obviously a bike storage shed.
You still get condensation in wooden ones though, just not as severe.

A purpose built metal bike security shed will be more secure than most wooden sheds.

It will also require less maintenance, have the appropriate sized door, and that one looks set up for a power socket as well has having some nice features.

Wooden sheds have gone up a great deal in cost as well. At that price, the metal bike storage looks good value.

I think there's a few ways to reduce condensation, but it will happen, I saw these the other day; https://www.roofingsheets.co.uk/anti-condensation.... which looked quite good, even if they do just redirect the moisture to somewhere else!

Personally I had three motorcycles (two fairly new) in a poorly assembled, leaky, 12 x 10 foot metal shed here in Scotland for years. Whilst I had leaks and condensation, I never had issues. I even ran a power supply with plugs, strip batten lights, and light switches (sufficiently IP rated).

I had one of these - not cheap but seriously tough..

https://www.secure-a-bike.com/product-page/racer

Keep an eye on Ebay - they do come up from time to time.

I've now got an Assguard shed for my eBikes and stuff - its nowhere near the quality of the Secure a Bike shed . I reckon it could be opened with a jemmy bar.

I bought one of these recently:
https://www.armadilloboxes.com/product/6ft-motorcy...

It's better quality than the Asgard I'd had previously, and being vented it shouldn't suffer condensation (much) - A friend has one and had no issues over winter.

Classed as a garage for my insurer also.

They delivered it and installed it for me. They'll do them custom sized if you'd like and it didn't cost much more - Master lock, ground anchor included.

I'm in the process of making mine look less like a shed hehe Will be building a pergola or something over it.

I've had an Armadillo box for two years and can't fault it.

Condensation hasn't been a problem and insurance which did initially class it as a shed now class it as a garage, made a decent saving on the price.

They can.

I have a friend who had three high end push bikes taken from one. CCTV shows a hooded teenager using a fairly small bar to pry it open, made no noise as Steve was in working from home with windows open when it happened.

The kid took one bike initially then came back about twenty minutes later for the others. Totally confident that he had been undetected when opening the Asgard, the way he was suggested he'd done them before.

I used to just use a ground anchor and a big fk-off chain in that London, and then throw a heavy duty cover over it.

Never had an issue, my neighbour lost 3 bikes in the same time, but refused to consider a ground anchor as he "had a garage"

No condensation issues, and much cheaper than a tin box

Never seen one in the flesh but I like the idea of the Bike Barn. Obviously only weather protection so you'd want a ground anchor, but a lot better than a bike cover

Thats not good ! Mine is pretty well hidden and the bikes are locked together in the shed, in such a way it would be near enough impossible to get them out of the garden.

Personally I'd make a bike shed using fence panels - you don't need a base

Then use a decent ground anchor and an alarmed disc lock or similar

Yep had seen these. I'm up north though and the chap is down on the south coast I think. They look a serious bit of kit though

Yes this is the thing I have seen online in other countries! Due to where I'm putting it there is the whole planning permission problem also I think, so I don't want something too big and someone putting in a complaint. We get bad winters here so it really needs somewhere to sit out of the rain and snow.

I've always had bike barns. They don't offer the same security as the steel sheds, but much less faff to build and move if you need to. Also very quick to actually use.

Fence panels?

Have you not just effectively described a wooden tent?

A cheap wooden shed without a floor

As others said if it doesn't look like a bike store...
