Hi all,

I have a 16mm Pragmasis chain and need a wall anchor for it.

I'm struggling to find one that will fit it as most don't seem to list internal dimensions.

Any suggestions?

Looking at the more budget end, as not convinced I'm not set on the layout of the garage yet.

Cheers!

Why not just get the pragmasis torc anchor which will fit and seems good value? Seems pointless getting one of the best chains but then using a cheap ground anchor.

As I say, I've not settled on my garage layout yet, and the anchor your recommend cannot be moved.

Would the double doofer work?

You get what you pay for, and you can move it as many times as you like, youll never have to buy another anchor.

This is probably as cheap as you'll get.

Just had a look. Probably too small for your chain.

If you are going to be able to reuse it in it’s final position does it matter?

You could install it and not hammer the screw heads in. This might sound silly, but consider that if the thieves would need a specific torx bit and impact driver to undo them, and if they had that, they may well have a cutter/grinder which the cheap one may not withstand either.

Any ground anchor worth using should have something to prevent thieves uninstalling it.

I don't like the "double doofer" thing, looks expensive and I don't like the flappy bits of metal everywhere.

I think I'll just get a jumbo "Torc Mega" one, and bolt it to the wall. It costs less and it can fit multiple chains, so sure I'll it'll find some purpose even if I do end up changing my layout.

I've emailed Pragmasis and asked if he still does discounts for PH forum members, as I'm pretty sure he used to.

In all honesty though, I'd rather sink another ground anchor into concrete but I honestly don't have the time just now, and just yesterday I saw some wee dhead riding past my house on a 125 almost certainly scoping out what he could steal. Hopefully he was deterred by the plethora of premium cameras, but clearly I'm out of time.

I don't suppose anyone can recommend a cheap wired garage PIR/sensor alarm with a decent siren?

I assume that with the requirement for a budget option the ultimate security is not the top priority at the moment? As such, why not buy a chain plate ring or a staple?

Cheap, easy to mount/remove but will allow you to decide the best location before putting the permanent solution in place.

As price seemed important (looking at the thread title) that's £10 cheaper here:

After you add VAT and shipping it works out about £1 difference.

I've bought direct from Pragmasis as the bloke seems a nice chap, and buying direct gives me confidence in the unlikely event of an issue he will sort it out. Certainly for a pound or so it seems worth it.

Thank you all - I hadn't really budgeted for it, but you get what you pay for I suppose!

Seems obscene the amount of security I have for a snotter bike. The physical security alone is now worth about 50% of the bikes value...

Are any of your cameras smart? I have a couple of £50 IP cameras, one of which is inside the garage with a push notification to my phone for motion sensor.

Google shows a whole bunch of sub £20 PIR garage/shed alarms. I suspect at that price they're all much of a muchness.

Yeah - That's a good point, thanks. My camera's do have alarms, lights and push notifications etc. Now you mention it I think I can set the internal ones to trigger a siren automatically.

I'd still like to have an additional siren which is a bit louder, but since I posted I found an old Yale wireless alarm system, aside from needing a ridiculous number of batteries, looks like it will do the trick.

So all set now I think, nothing more I can do. I mean except for the "conversation baseball bat" and stab proof vest I keep nearby. Obviously.

Go to the nearest fabricator (or ebay / metal warehouse)

Buy a length of box section and have the ends cut at 45 degrees

Drill a couple of holes

Job done

IE this type of thing but in a size that suits you
