If you haven't seen it already, you might like this Bennetts video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=807PIVPxpY8

It features the police using "tactical contact" to catch suspects fleeing on scooters – a tactic I reckon many law-abiding people support.

If they've not stopped for the car with big yellow and blue chequers all over it and blue strobes then it's 100% deserved. thumbup

Heart-warming to watch. A great shame that their mothers didn't swallow their [now absent] dad's muck years ago though.

Is it still the case that they can't ram the knuckle-dragging lawless kids if they aren't wearing a crash helmet?

wouldn't surprise me - sadly all that'll mean is more scrotes with no helmets on - leading to cries of police 'unfairness'

Exactly this. It's not uncommon to spot them riding around at night all in dark clothing on a [nicked] dark scooter, 2 or 3 up, no helmets, zipping in and out of alleys and quiet estate roads.

When they get rammed off by the police fed car and seriously injured, that's another nice fat claim against the Met.

In that first one, the one on the floor and the one that legged it looked like the impact knocked their helmets off. Yoof seem to fink its uncool to have their straps done up round here. You see it all the time.

'Fam, I'm gonna bare wear my lid but I aint gonna do the strap up'

I prefer the Brazilian method but fair play to the Met.

I'd love to see they type of people that complain at that type of action.

I think they should do these on pay per view. Should help them afford 4K cameras for a better view of scumbag injuries and then the surplus funds can go towards the owners repairing their bikes.

IIRC a few months after they started doing that they had to change "the rules" back again.

A scotplod traffic guy confirmed that if they haven't got helmets on they have to get approval to even "follow" and it's very rare they are allowed to "pursue" anyone on a bike.
I've heard similar from South Wales police too, though they weren't in traffic themselves.

There's different strategy for that. It prevents motorised chases https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Hg-YJ7t5BY
