The bike came with S22. Great tyre, super grippy. I'm not a fast rider and have done a few stupid long day trips (Surrey>Cornwall>Surrey). The rear is pretty squared off at 2,900 miles. Maybe I need a decent touring tyre instead, but I'm concerned that the trade off in grip could catch me out.

Any suggestions or is 2,900 miles good for a soft tyre on a Superduke?

It’s not bad mileage. I did a rear Avon in 2.5k miles on a sv650.

You might loose a little grip but a Michelin road 5 or 6 will give a couple of thousand more miles.

I can't comment on the SuperDuke as I've not owned one but my last three sets of tyres on my H2 SX have been:

Michelin road 5
Metzler RoadTec 01 SE
Michelin Road 6

Each slightly better than the one before. The first two lasted 7000 miles (the Road 6's are still on) and all are sure footed in the wet and the dry. All have been used for long distancve motorway runs and for fast enthusiastic back roads/mountain passes. (The 01 SEs did my 24 Alps passes in a week run and the Road 6s have just done over 2500 miles in the Picos and Pyrenees)

I’ve got Continental RoadAttack 3’s on my Superduke. Prefer them to the M7R’s I had on the other one. Not gave me any causes for concern but I’m not flat out everywhere.

I've got Dunlop Roadsmart 3 on my zx10, there's absolutely no trade off in grip compared to a sports trye for road riding. I did 250 miles on Saturday around mid Wales at a fair old pace, some of which I got caught in heavy downpours and can't rate them highly enough.

They have a version 4 now too.

Just remember that your rear is a 200/55. Not all sports touring tyres will give you that profile option.

Some owners are fitting a 190/55 and not reporting to have any issues, but it's worth noting as the rear will sit a bit lower.

Just stuck a Power 5 on my MT10. Had a Power GP on it before, but wanted something a little more road/touring biased, although I might take it on track again, so had that in mind too.
