Hello, Captain Obvious here, and I'm sure you all know this, but I didn't, so thought I'd post it.

I bought a second hand Kriega R30 and it turned out (much to my disappointment, as I had hoped to change into dry clothes!) that the main waterproof part wasn't waterproof any more.

Anyway as I started looking online for a new rucksack I wondered whether the (removable) waterproof liner was replaceable. Turns out it is, in stock at sportsbikeshop and elsewhere - less than £20.

Also liners for the rest of the range of rucksacks and bags are available, so if yours leaks don't chuck it, change the liner!

That’s extremely sensible, I’d never have thought to look!

Useful tip

Yet more evidence that buying a quality product actually works out cheaper (see also “ Sam Vimes Boot Theory”)

Also makes cleaning easier :-)

My bag had an "interface" with the exhaust recently. The outer was a bit melted in a couple of spots, but nothing I didn't fix with wetsuit glue and luckily the liner remained intact.

you could just buy some dry bags and put one inside the rucksack. Will be super waterproof then.
