Just considering one of these Zeros for my commute as I can charge at both ends and love the idea of all that torque. However their website doesn't shed much light on the difference between the two although it categorises them separately (FXE as a Streetbike and the FX as a Dualsport).

The chopping and changing of the dealer network round here and the dealers' poor quality of communication also doesn't fill me with confidence. Nor does the potential depreciation - I've already got a long-distance ICE tourer and spaffing another fifteen hundred quid up the wall on an annual drop in value to save ten quid a week on petrol might make it a no-no.

C'mon there must be someone out there that knows about these things? Or are they just not for enthusiasts?

I test road the SR/F last year, was very disappointed. Tried all the different power modes and just didn't get this massive torque surge that the salesman was raving about.

To be honest my old Bandit 1200 felt torquier and probably weighed less than the Zero too. I know some people might buy one because they care about the environment but as a motorcycle the riding experience was really flat, no sound, no vibes, no 'feel' for the engine speed.

Build quality seemed good though.

I haven't tried one yet, but I like the idea of e-motorcycles, they're just all far too expensive at the moment (I don't buy new anyway)

Thanks for this feedback, Piddy 44 - more or less matches my gut feeling. Possibly oddly, my likely ICE alternative would be a 1983 Honda XR500R RFVC trailie. Similar weight and performance and shortly to become Historic so no road tax or MOT to worry about in future. About half the capital outlay and won't depreciate much if at all. Better range, easy to fill up in a minute or two on my regular journey, potentially equally reliable, excellent parts supply and experienced local specialist.

I'm on my second EV (after a couple of hybrids) and I love the idea of an electric motorbike but I suspect the battery technology just isn't mature enough yet.
