7x5 Shed - Big enough?
Discussion
Howdy
I'll be needing a shed to store my bike in, as unfortunately I don't have a garage.
There's an ideal plot in the back garden where I could put a 7x5 shed and be able to ride straight down the side of the house into.
I'm just a little half and half when it comes to the size. It'll give me roughly 100mm to spare in length, and maybe 300mm either side on the width (SV650).
Being able to work on the bike inside the shed is naturally out of the question, but is a 7x5 realistic, or will I inevitably end up wishing I'd knocked a small wall down to allow me to get a bigger size
At the same time I'm looking into some of those purpose built bike shelters sorta thing, although I feel better about it being in a shed for some reason.
Or I should just get a Honda Grom and store it inside a breadbin instead

A shed that's a tight fit might stop you storing other crap in there.
It's when the other stuff encroaches on the bike space that trouble starts.
Do you have space to turn the bike around outside the shed?
Wheeling a bike backwards is a pain and I think, higher risk of dropping it.
That's what I was thinking. I have storage elsewhere so the shed should just be for the bike only really. It's when the other stuff encroaches on the bike space that trouble starts.

I have space to wheel it around outside without too much trouble. So I can push/ride in, wheel it out, turn it round and then push/ride down the side of the house.
My garden shed is 7x5 and whilst I use it for garden stuff rather than the bike, I'm very glad I ticked the box for 'extra wide door'. The door on mine is 36", whereas standard is 27".
Your bike will probably fit fairly easily in terms of width and length, but just keep in mind that door size thing.

Micks Law states that, "Whatever st you have expands to fill the space you have to put it in".

Pretty much this, I got a 10x8ft shed a few months back to store my mountain bike and some garden stuff in. Wish id went the next size up.
I kept my XT600 in a 7x5 for a few years with no problems - even had enough room to have a small fixed workbench at the front-left corner.
You'll need a small ramp to get the bike over the threshwood, or (as I found out), when pushing it in quite vigorously, the bike suddenly stops at the thresh & the pusher continues forward and sticks the nut on the door-frame...
