My lightly used (sub 7k miles) 05 Fireblade has tyres that are 10/11 years old now so I'm looking to replace them.

I saw the Continental ContiSportAttack 4's have 'TractionSkin' among other technologies that allegedly means they aren't slippery when new and require no scrubbing in.

Anyone used these? are they any good or is it all marketing gimmicks? Purely for road use and avoiding rain but you never know when you might get caught in it.

Cheers

Are the Continental bike tyres made in Russia like the car tyres?

I would personally buy Bridgestone S22 which are a great tyre and don't have any German / Russian links.

isnt that just marketing spin and making a feature out of something that other manufacturers gave up doing years ago ?

I have just bought a 1000rr and it came with these on, took it immediately to Spain where I wore them out over a few thousand miles..and I loved every mile of them. Unfortunately had to change tyres half way through and couldn't get anymore. So have got michelins on now but will go back to these immediately when new tyres due.

They are stable, give a smooth ride and grip really well.

Also would like to add have had the Bridgestones the previous post mentioned and in my humble opinion the Conti is a far superior tyre

Lol. Far superior to S22. Even Continental themselves concede it’s equal at best in their bumph on the motorad test result.

Op will be happier all round with the S22.

I have S22 on my 690 SMC. Stick like glue, warm up quick, nice feel & are OK in the damp. Rear lasted almost 4,000 miles.

I’ve just put some Conti Trail Attack 3s on my 1290 SAS and they’re bloody brilliant. They immediately felt sticky and I had no qualms riding reasonably hard in the rain straight out of the tyre shop. You could feel they were already “roughed up” with your hand - even brand new. Will try a bit of light greenlaning and maybe a trackday on them later this year, but I’m mighty impressed. Guy at my local tyre place reckons Conti are just a bit behind with their marketing…

Quite like Pirellis myself.
I think any 'proper brand' will be OK, way better than aged tyres from 10 years ago.

I reckon certain tyres suit certain bikes and certain riding styles and all that, but so few people do enough miles to give proper back to back comparisons, it's just personal choice.

A quick google shows no tire plant in Russia

https://www.continental-tires.com/transport/compan...

Though where you might be right is that these are manufactured in Germany.

I’ve just fitted the same tyres on my BMW 650 XCountry and I agree they are excellent.
