I like well thought-out retro and cafe style bikes and have been riding a CB1100EX for the past year w/o issues.

Makes nice noise has good provenance is robust and now terminally out of production, at least for UK/EU market.

At the workplace garage noticed the latest Thruxton RS that someone recently purchased and is a sculpture of a machine.
Reminded me the Ducati sports classic but new/dependable.

I suppose the CB will be a bit easier to live with but can't help but drool over the Thruxton.

What are the thoughts here about the two bikes?

The Triumph would have the performance advantage (I assume) due to the lower weight and slightly more power. However, i absolutely love the look of the CB1100 and would be VERY hard pressed to get rid of it.

I've always had an unexplained love for the CB1100, the only reason I've not had one is that I've got a Moto Guzzi V7 in the stable also which is a similar retro style bike. It is an itch I'm going to have to scratch sooner or later.
