Sadly, I haven't had a bike in a few years now and prices mean that may not change for some considerable time frown

Anyway, I might need to store a bike for a friend of mine for a few weeks and I'm just trying to work out if I can squeeze it my shed. Will be either a CBR600 or a KDX125. I've cleared a space of about 180cm x 60cm which 'feels' about right to me, am I correct or way off the mark? Obviously I will be moving stuff out to make more room to wheel it in, but then it will be piled back up around said bike.

Could do without losing the space in the garage at the moment!

You're not far off, will need less floorspace widthwise if you can get it upright on a paddock stand ... I think your 60cm is being ambitious ..

I'd say at least 2m by 1m.

You need some room for it to lean (side-stand) or move backwards (centre-stand) when parking it up.

It’s the length that will get you, most are 2m plus, especially modern stuff with silly rear plate hangers.
Width wise, a CBR300 Honda is 73cm wide, car end to bar end, a 1290 superduke is 10cm more than that.
I reckon a cbr 600 will be 2.1m x 0.8m once it is in and on its side stand.

If I'm tight on space and the bike doesn't have a centre stand I sometimes just lean one of the bar ends against a wall so it's almost upright. If you're storing it for some time you could do this and pack other stuff around to ensure it can't topple over or move about.

If the bike is upright it takes up slightly less space. I have one of my bikes on a 4 wheel dolly as I need to move it around to gain access to a loft hatch from time to time. Then afterwards its easy to push it right back up to the wall to maximise working space in the garage.

All of mine are over 2m (the old Guzzi is around 2.2m) and despite all being narrow twins are at least 80cm wide at the mirrors/bars and that's 'vertical' i.e. on a paddock or centre stand and you'll need room to get it onto a stand.

As such, I'd say you really want a min. of 2.5m and 1m width (and wider if you need to stand next to it) for manoeuvring .

Have you got a photo of the set up please?

I've just measured the little alcove in the garage I've put the RC8 into. It is exactly big enough for the bike on a rear track stand - its 90cm x 230cm with the bars slightly turned. Without the track stand, it would probably need 110x210, and thats a small bike.

The RC8's bars are just under 80cm wide, my Supermoto's is 90, and the Adventure is 105cm (and the bike itself is 2.3m long).

I used to get two in a 4x6 shed. It was VERY tight though.
