Just changed the registration number on my Kawasaki and informed the insurers, Devitt Insurance. Had to pay £33 for the change, was a bit of a shock as the years premium for Fully Comp was only £80 and the renewal fee was just £16.

Did the same thing last year on my car and it was free with Direct Line. Will ask the question before accepting a quote with whoever I renew with next year. Lessons have been learnt. smilesmile

Bennetts charged me £38 to change my plate but did say if i had done it within two weeks of renewal it would have been free.

£35 to £40 would seem to be about standard for "mid term adjustments" - something I tend to be aware of as I'm always making changes. Many specialists make a point of stating "no charge" for amendments.

Yeah - it's a mid-term adjustment which the brokers use to pad their profit margins.

I've argued this every single time I've made an adjustment and have never paid as a result.

Just kick up a big stink with them, threaten to file a FOS reportable complaint. They'll back down every time.

Hastings charged me 25% of the annual premium with a couple of months left to change address.

I thought going from no garage to locked garage might get me a refund.....
