Advice please, for years I’ve been putting a new battery in my Harley every year and also hooking it up to my battery optimiser when the bike isn’t used all the time.
Still the battery manages to die and fails to keep charge. I get a few months of decent use out of the battery then it just doesn’t charge up.
Is there a better optimiser than the Oxford one that I use ?
Is there a better optimiser / battery combination ?
Can anyone recommend along the lines of ‘buy xxx battery and xxx optimiser and you’ll get a few years of good service ‘

Any advice welcome please !
My bike is a 2007 1800cc screaming eagle engines dyna so needs a decent high cranking battery.

Sounds a little odd to me - wouldn't expect to have to change a battery every year (or even every couple of years) in a motorbike (or car).

I think there's something odd going on that needs checking out. If you take the battery out of the bike and fully charge it (not on the optimiser) then put it back in, does it work?

Yes - a fresh battery always works for a few months - I reckon the optimiser may be knackered so that I think I’m topping up the battery but it’s just sitting there - maybe even draining being connected to a faulty optimiser ?
I just took this pic in the garage

I'd need to look at the instructions (easy to find online) but I think that says it's charging. As per my question above I'd be charging the battery with a different charger (not the Optimate) and seeing if it held charge. If so it's probably the Optimate, if not it's the battery/bike.

The Optimate also has a test function (Leds in the top right) that runs automatically - again take a look at the manual but I think you want a solid green light.
