Every so often when riding my GS I get a warning light to say it can't find the key, within 30 seconds or so all is well. But the odd thing is this only happens when going slowly in traffic and seems especially prone to occur at roundabouts. Getting up to a reasonable speed seems to be what clears the error.

Coincidence? Radio interference from other vehicles?

I knew someone years ago that reckoned breakdowns were particularly common on roundabouts because all that circulating metal caused some kind of magnetic field, but that sounds a bit too far fetched.

Have you tried putting a new battery in the fob ? I sometimes get some weird alarm arming issues when the battery is on the way out in my fob.

I tried that with the previous GS but it made no difference. This bike is only a few months old and does the same.

That's a strange one and i am all for conspiracy theory's smile
I've been keyless for a few years on different bikes but never encountered this, the only thing I find strange and concerning is being able to ride off into the distance with your key left at the side of the road or in the garage, only to find your fked if you do this and stop the bike without realising frown

I get it, its a safety thing and cars are the same, they will not allow a vehicle to suddenly cut out but one day i can see me leaving my key on the wheelie bin as I stick my helmet on.

It’s not keyless though is it? You’ve still got a key but now you’ve got nowhere to put it - so it should be keyholeless.

Keyless sounds like magnificent progress, keyholeless sounds like it’s crap - which it is.

It is actually mildly convenient, just leave the key fob in my bike jacket and unless I'm using the topbox I can forget about it.

Think MCN done that when they were test riding the Multistrada and left the key on a fuel pump after filling up. At the next stop the bike wouldn’t go and someone had to ride back to the garage to retrieve the fob. Our car flashes up a dashboard warning if you try to drive away and the key is out of range. Surprised bikes haven’t got it yet

The GS at least has, that's what's going off spuriously.
