New Bike Day! Ducati Scrambler
Discussion
Yeehaw!
Just picked this up - 2017 Scrambler Full Throttle with... 127 miles on the clock!
Mate's dad bought it on a whim, never rode it and gave (!) it to me.
Got a few mods planned - indicators, tail tidy, yellow delete, bar end mirrors, new seat, new zorst... Can't wait to get stuck in.
Now just need to hope it doesn't get nicked before my Almax chain arrives - got a crappy Oxford chain, Kryp disc lock and cover on til then.
V happy!

Thanks gents. Yes completely free, although I used that as an excuse to buy a bunch of upgrades and lots of kit so doesn’t feel that free
I’ve fitted the tracker now so feeling marginally less paranoid.
Dropping it to the garage on Thurs, hoping to have all sorted by the weekend so I can have a proper blast!

Well done
Slight deja-vue here as my first bike was a Ducati (250) Scrambler and it was also given to me by a friend of my Dad's. However it was 10 years old at the time (back in 1978) and needed quite a bit of work to get it going so not quite so lucky.
As for upgrades/mods, I'd get rid of the silly number plate holder thing and fit it to the rear seat/mudguard.

Lucky thing. Does your mate's dad need any more friends?!
Probably but think he's run out bikes now! Gave another 3 away last week!anonymous said:

Yes, staying on the road. In a London flat so not much choice without paying £100 a month for a garage space which seems overkill. Thanks for the tips!catso said:

Wow, big up the Scrambler beneficiaries!Slight deja-vue here as my first bike was a Ducati (250) Scrambler and it was also given to me by a friend of my Dad's. However it was 10 years old at the time (back in 1978) and needed quite a bit of work to get it going so not quite so lucky.

Yes the number plate holder thing is going.
Actually dropped off at the garage today, should be picking up Friday.
Asked them to cut down the bars as well as what a bit of a chore hacking through the traffic today.
Don't love the silver tach or headlight surround so will be spraying those up at the weekend (black).
Great bike, though you're brave putting bar end mirrors on. The FT bars are ridiculously wide by themselves.
I've had a Scrambler Icon since 2015 and it's my first bike in 41 years I've never really felt the need to change. Sure, it's not particularly fast or comfortable or practical. But it is massive fun every time I get on it.
If you're leaving it outside, I'd recommend a serious investment in ACF50 or similar since the finish is pretty fragile in places (the unfinished, milled parts of the engine cases are particularly hard to keep looking nice).

Yep nine hundred and something! In garage it's still £675-ish._Neal_ said:
Looks very nice that (especially as a gift!) - what's the riding position like?
Pretty good - not too upright as bars are low-ish. I'm over 6ft so bit cosy in the leg area.klootzak said:

Yeah I've had the bars cut down to have the mirrors added on. I've had a Scrambler Icon since 2015 and it's my first bike in 41 years I've never really felt the need to change. Sure, it's not particularly fast or comfortable or practical. But it is massive fun every time I get on it.

I finally got to open her up a bit this weekend and it really is as fun as everyone has said! Thanks for the ACF50 reco - I'll take a look. Current plan is to ride over summer then SORN it for winter.
Made some cosmetic changes... pics to follow!
I made some changes over the past week which I'm really pleased with. Got a race exhaust with carbon tip on order. Also want to spray the tach surround black but can't work out how to remove it.
The changes are:
- Mugello slim seat
- Black under seat side panels
- Blaze pin indicators
- Tail tidy
- 7 x 5 plate
- Black headlight bezel
- Black exhaust heat shield
- Scrambler decals removed from tank and classic Ducati added
- Yellow strip removed from fenders
- Bars cut down and bar end mirrors added
- Quad Lock Pro phone mount
