Hi All

I'm a big fan of riding in motorcycle jeans (I'm aware of the debate around the safety of single layer riding jeans) and its my first choice of clothing where possible over my textiles and leathers.
However, both my bikes have quite slab sides, there isn't a recess to lock your knee into like there is on some more sporty bikes. As such, I'm finding that even with the tank dots I have installed (blobs of silicone type rubber stuff for grip) I cannot grip the tank adequately in sporty riding.

A friend of mine suggested that there maybe either some type of jeans with a leather or similar material patch on the inside of the knee/thigh for tank grip, or that there may be some sort of iron-on patch or similar solution. However I have been unable to find either.

Does anybody have any solutions, other than wearing a different type of leg covering?

Thanks

Which tank grips do you currently use?

Eazi-Grip ones are grippy as f**k.

I have always used the Evo versions of these.

In leathers, in jeans, in your birthday suit they grip well.

Cheapest option is to glue some sandpaper to the side of the tank. Works with all clothing, dirt cheap and can be removed or replaced cheaply.

I am thinking about this sort of thing for protection and grip. Once this stuff is stuck on is it possible to remove without damaging the paint?

Are the blobs in the right place? I bought a set for my bike, put them where they're designed to fit, but it's not really near my knees or any useful part of my leg so I've had to stick another patch of grippy stuff on. I seem to have long femurs so my knees don't go where they're expected!

Yep exactly where i need them to be, if you check the MT10, that black plastic bit that also has them on, is like a textured surface, presumably also for grip.

Thanks for that, might try a set on the Tiger and see how they get on. They might blend in ok on that bike, but i'm not keen on the MT10 set.
Do you have black or clear? How clear/subtle is the clear set?

Thanks for that. Not as bothered about cheaply, just needs to look decent as well as being functional

The clear is fairly subtle I'd say. They eye is definitely not drawn to them anway.

Yer that doesn't look too obvious, cheers. Will give them a go.

Just removed mine off one of the bikes, used a hair drier to warm them up a little first, came straight off no drama.

Thanks

Great, those Easi-Grip ones look decent; the tank on my SV is black so they should look ok.

The black grips blend in even better on a black tank.

Sure, but I mean the right place for you. Like I said - the Kawasaki ones I bought are in the "right place" - where they're designed to go - but for my particular legs it's the wrong place. Whereas when my husband gets on it, they are in exactly the right place for his legs. So I've had to stick an extra bit where it isn't designed to go, which solved the problem for me. If that makes sense smile.

Photo attached - not pretty and I'm sure you get make it look better, you can obviously see the extra bit I stuck on in the "wrong place" plus the two R&G bits in the "right place" so I can get some grip, but a million times better and fixed my problem!
