Interesting place to overnight 1.5 hours from Calais?
Discussion
It depends hugely want you are looking for, do you want a town, with bars and restaurants, a camping style place out by a lack with chalets etc, a hotel near main roads etc?
What i would say is the French love their motorbikes so most places are bike friendly and parking up in town with a decent lock should not be a problem.

Whilst a bit further from Calais (2hr 45m) i was going to suggest Reims too as we normally stay here https://all.accor.com/hotel/1248/index.en.shtml#se....
Not too expensive, decent rooms, close enough to walk to the city centre for food and beers and not far from the motorway either so easy to get to and from.

I'm happy to recommend the Hotel Eden we stayed at in Bethune last September. https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

Slightly OT as not about staying overnight, but worth taking a look at La Coupole WW2 site, which is about an hour or so from Calais.
We did that on our way back to Calais on a euro trip and it was pretty much the highlight of the tour.
Blockhaus is near there too.
Both sites planned to launch V2s at us, but thankfully bombed and put out of action.

I can highly recommend St Omer. I usually stay in the Ibis hotel in the city centre, which has reasonably secure off street parking in a courtyard. The hotel is usually full of Gendarme when I stay there as I thing there must be a regional Police Training centre nearby. Can't get more secure than that!
Lovely old city with plenty of history and large square a short stroll from the hotel with plenty of dining an beverage options.
