North West 200
Discussion
I couldn't see a thread for this year's NW200 so thought I'd start one for anyone interested.
Looks like a great lineup again and some interesting returning names popping up.

Anyone got any thoughts on who's going to be at the sharp end?
For the superbikes I think Hickman, Harrison, Irwin, Brookes or maybe Todd... so expect someone completely different to walk away with it.
Lee Johnston for the super sport maybe? He's going well in BSB SS again.

I will be heading up on Sat for the days racing and hope to finish work early enough on Thurs to get up for the evening racing tbh.
as always will show support to Dunlop but think that he will be hard pushed to win the superbikes this year tbh.
I would agree regarding Dunlop.as always will show support to Dunlop but think that he will be hard pushed to win the superbikes this year tbh.
Would be great to see him go well but I think it's a stretch given that Hawk have only stepped in at the last minute so little time to put a bike together.
Anyone have any tips on spectating that have been before?
Our group will be travelling via train / public transport only. The trip is as part of a stag do and hiring vehicles for 12 of us was out of this world.
As far as i can see our options are - Train in Coleraine and train in Portrush. Travelling from Derry on Thursday and Saturday
Is it possible to walk to good vantage points from both or either of these locations? I guess the viewing at Portrush end is decent enough?
Can you get further up Cromore road from University corner for flatout viewing?

There's a lot of bikers heading to the Stranraer Ferry today on the A75. A few of them complete idiots. One tried to have a head on with me today as he overtook a lorry and I was heading east.
D&G Police have a number of unmarked cars including a Skoda Superb grey estate.
Stay safe if you are heading out. It's not a racetrack or a suicide mission.

The point being that most fot eh NW track is smooth, and the corners are fairly scratchy, yes it's a long track, but nothing like the Irish tracks, the NW is about as friendly as a roads venue can get other than perhaps Olivers Mount!!
You do talk some rubbish. how can you compare the NW200 to Oliver's mount? It was a member of the team's technical staff driving the car, apparently.

On the bright side, the front end looks better post accident.

The comparison is simple.
If you look at Cookstown, Tandragee, Billown, IOM they are bumpy, tight roads in places and open in others.
NW is fairly flat, not especially bumpy in comparison to the real road tracks and more like a real short track in many places than the TT course for example, OM is a proper track, but very very narrow.
For me there are three types of road course, the true stuff like the Irish stuff and green lanes of old, the TT, and then the more short circuit style road tracks like NW, Oliver's, Bathurst, even perhaps Macau or Aberdare, there is something that separates these tracks from full on short circuits, that's all.
