So we need to sell my sons bike
If a dealer has same year with 15k miles and ours is 13k
And there’s is at £5088 where does our need to be look attractive £4650 ?
I doubt the dealer is giving more than 12 weeks warranty
And our bike is only 2 owners we bought from Honda main dealer And has full main dealer service history
For the sake of this let’s say everything else is equal

Hard to say really, there's a bit more peace of mind than just a warranty buying through a dealer. I think you're best looking to see what others are up for privately and not paying too much attention to dealer prices.

Dealer will have to comply with consumer protection legislation....which is longer than 12 weeks.

Are there lots of the same model for sale? The fewer there are the more likely you’ll get a buyer nearby wanting it and they will value it being local more than dealer / private.

This time of year 10% less, other things being equal, should be enough to get a sale. What a dealer offers includes a p/x and / or finance option so private sales may have fewer buyers from that point of view.

Go on ebay and look for the same bike - same year, same sort of mileage etc - and then click on completed items.

This shows what they have actually sold for and not just what people are advertising them at.

No more certain way of finding out what someone will pay for it.

I'd say £4300-44400 normally, but the market's crazy at the moment & it's the perfect time of year so £4650 like you say and be prepared to accept £4400-4500 tops. Mainly depends on whether you're close to a potential buyer, what the market for similar bikes is like in your area, and how much someone wants it. Dealer finance not really an advantage these days as most buyers can get a personal loan within 10 minutes, and dealer warranty not usually worth the paper it's written on (consumer rights acts often offers more protection if buying from a dealer).
Still, it's a ball-ache dealing with the buying public... Far too many chancers and " 'ow much fer kersch mate"(?) types around now. Certain demographics squirting oil down the exhaust or into the coolant reservoir & telling you your rings have gone or your head-gasket's away.
I usually just sell my bikes back into the trade... the financial hit is worth it rather than having to deal with some of the tornado-bait that rings your door-bell. Advertising privately, I always used to put in the advert 'Test-ride welcome with proof of licence, proof of insurance, & full cash deposit in my hand - sorry but you know how it works'. That way you sound like an experienced seller and reduce the number of chancers & test-pilots.
Selling cars privately can be hard work; doubly so for bikes.

Depends on the bike - IE most people buying a sub 3yr old bike want to buy from a Dealer, same for anything that's known to be temperamental

Assuming it's older and really is like the Dealer's including being clean, serviced, decent tyres then £4-500 less should sell it

Have you tried Webuyanybike?

You might not get as much for it but you won’t have to deal with the public, it’ll be gone and you won’t get buyers back at your door complaining that there’s a bulb blown.

Alternatively take it to a bike shop. At one point they were crying out for decent stock to sell.

Just 2 other ways to consider.

I sold through webuyanybike recently, they turned up and started haggling, even after stating they wouldn't. I was very honest with photos etc so that annoyed me abit but in all they weren't too bad.

Other than name they have no similarity to webuyanycar

My son has just sold his KTM390 through Ebay using a classified advertisement , 3 offers all within £200 of the asking price.
Only one guy turned up when he said he would, came 100 miles to see it, and paid by bank transfer. Got the same price for it as my son paid for it two years ago.
Even allowing for inflation prices at dealers at the moment are ridiculous, 5 year old popular bikes for sale at only £1000 less than they cost new, but if people are wiling to pay the dealer prices then the prices will stay high, and talking to other people it seems that dealers are not interested in haggling, their prices are firm.
If you want a quick sale, as has been said try Webuyanybike, but their first offer will be low then their second offer will be slightly better but still low.
If you are not after a quick sale and want the best price then Ebay, Autotrader and Facebook marketplace gives you a very wide market but then you get all the hassle of sorting genuine buyers from the chances and idiots.

I had my R6 valued last week.

WBAB offered £3600
Dealer offered £4500 (FSH with them from new)
Dealer said sell private for £5600

The difference in price from private to dealer was due to the work they would need to do to put their warranty on it as it would be reverted back to standard ( I have all the standard parts still).
