7 year old 50cc 2 stroke, needs a cylinder head and has 12 mths mot now but the previous mot reads like the following, should i avoid?

Do not drive until repaired (dangerous defects):
Front Wheel bearing play so excessive that directional control is impaired excessive play in front wheel (suspected wheel spindle loose) (5.1.3 (a) (ii))
Repair immediately (major defects):
Headlamp aim too low (4.1.2 (a))
Headlamp aim so that beam "kick up" is not visible on the screen kick up going to wrong side O/S instead of N/S (4.1.2 (a))
Monitor and repair if necessary (advisories):
Front Brake lever is short but brake can still be readily applied (1.1.2 (d))
Front wheel bearings sound rough but no free play
Rear Lower Shock absorber has a slightly worn bush (5.3.2 (c))
Nearside Front Shock absorber has a light misting of oil (5.3.2 (b))
Rear Brake indicates slight fluctuation of brake effort brake roller tester indicates slight run out in rear brake disc (1.2.1 (e))


Do not drive until repaired (dangerous defects):
Nearside Handlebar grip insecure to handlebar (2.2.1 (d) (ii))
Rear Wheel bearing play so excessive it is likely to break up (5.1.3 (a) (ii))
Repair immediately (major defects):
Nearside Front Shock absorber has a serious fluid leak (5.3.2 (b))
Registration plate lamp inoperative in the case of a single lamp or all lamps (4.7.1 (b) (ii))
Nearside Rear Footrest missing (6.2.12 (a))
Drive chain horseshoe locking device incorrectly fitted (6.1.7 (j) (i))
Rear Brake indicates excessive fluctuation of brake effort indicates excessive runout in rear brake disc (1.2.1 (e))
Headlamp aim so that beam "kick up" is not visible on the screen headlamp has no beam pattern (4.1.2 (a))
Monitor and repair if necessary (advisories):
Front Brake lever is short but brake can still be readily applied (1.1.2 (d))
Front front wheel bearings sound rough but no free play
Front Brake pad(s) close to minimum limit (1.1.13 (a))
Rear Lower Shock absorber has a slightly worn bush (5.3.2 (c))
main beam warning light remains lit on main & dip beam

I don't think you should go as much as £5,000 for it, but less than that and you'll be fine!

I’d be wary of the validity of the current MOT.

Has someone really done all that work or just found a mate to give it a dodgy pass.

All those things are run f the mill DIY fettling, but there's a lot of faults for what was a 6 year old bike.

So other things will have been neglected.


The apparent need for a cylinder head (gasket????) could be something harder to fix like crank seals.

When I was young and skint, I bought a few bikes with lots of things like that needed, and either fixed them or broke them, made one out of 2 etc etc.

You could buy a bike like that with good tyres for less than the cost of tyres.....

Sounds like your average learner ped.

As said above, an afternoon's fettling would have sorted the MOT failures.

The 5 year old Suzuki X7 I bought in 1984 was alot worse than that.
