So been toying with the idea of buying an off road/comfortable touring bike (the roads are shocking here) as my old favorites (sports bikes) are not an option as the roads and drivers here make them a dangerous option (cows/dogs/people wondering in the road, trucks overtaking on the wrong side etc) plus I’m too old to crouch on one for hours on end.

So I’ve just bought a 89 XR600 for $700USD. Mukini TM40 Flat side pumper carb, updated later model suspension, all new bearing and bushes, recovered seat, recon tank, bark busters etc.

Hasn’t run for two years so is at the garage to be rejuvenated!

I road one about 20 years ago after getting some tuition on starting it. It hurt a few times.
What a beast but a bit heavy for tight off road rides.

Haha. Yeah you need to kick it with full size motocross boots until you get the hang of it.
He had some guys look at it when it was up for sale. All turned up on new KTMs. He said if they could start it they could take it for a ride! Nope.
They left and he ended up keeping it but I think that was his plan as his wife was the one who encouraged him to sell it.

Those TM carbs turn it into a beast plus make it “easier” to start.
