Somehow I got wondering about the Aprilia Area 51, a 50cc scooter of the late 90's which looked very trick indeed, and i stumbled upon this website with a few minutes of time happily wasted looking at their various motorcycles (and scooters) for sale: https://www.ruotedasogno.com/en_gb/bikes.html

It's just one shop and I don't know anything more about it than it's a website I found just now. But some of those bikes - wow! There must have been heaps of manufacturers in Italy in post WWII decades, most of which have probably long since ceased to exist. It's probably a good thing I'm around the other side of the Earth as some of it is mighty tempting.

Ruote da Sogno are legendary, one of the most amazing classics dealers in car and bikes in all of Italy. I keep trying to forget their website exist, but then someboby will post a link and I get lost again...

That is a cracking site!

I have a 1959 Moto Morini Corsarino, which there's a few of on there. I had it when I was 14 with a view to using it as a ped at 16 but you couldn't get spares for them back in the mid-90s so I gave up and put it in the shed and bought a Fizzy. Looking how much they have them up for sale for luckily I left it in the shed and still have it!

I then went on to a 1967 125 Motobi (a few of those on there too) which I had when all my mates had DTs, etc. Sold that a couple of years ago.

I've now got a real hankering for a mid-fifties MV or similar to restore to concours. They're such jewels of bikes. Ideally I'd love a Moto Rumi but they're too much money for an ornament I think!

I love this - Vespa 150 converted to carry a 75mm recoil-less AT rifle, 6 spare sets of ammunition and a tiny wee trailer!

Superb! There was a feature in Bike a couple of months back on that - could apparently be fired on the move eek

The one that always fascinated me was the Moto Guzzi 500cc V8 race bike from the late 50s!

I didn't know they existed until I saw a picture of one in the cafe at Newlands Corner back in the late 70s.

I think a V8 Guzzi could be the answer to ever stricter emission controls.

What a great site.....cars and bikes, lovely.

I'll have to hand my PH card in though, I'd never heard of this pretty little thing.... https://www.ruotedasogno.com/en_gb/cars/1967-moret...
