Just wondering what these are like. I haven't even seen one (the Honda dealers within a few hundred miles of me haven't had them in stock for ages).

For some reason they appeal to me. I haven't owned a bike for many years (have a full licence) but I had a refresher course on an MT-07 recently, which is obviously a different beast!

I'd be using it on back roads and some single carriage A roads, plus a little bit of town work. If commuting it'd be about a 35 mile round trip. Is top speed about 55mph, or is 60-ish a possibility? I think Honda claim something like 180mpg, but presumably that's wildly optimistic.

You can ride anything anywhere but its really a town bike. 35 mile round trip on faster roads would get old pretty quickly. Everyone is different and you may find it OK.

100mpg would be easy but the quoted 180 would need a bit of effort and you certainly wouldn't be pinned at 60mph and get that. It should do 60mph on the flat depending on how big you are.

3.7 litre fuel tank would put me off. The tiny fuel tank annoyed me when I owned a C90. Most of the time I filled it using jerry cans.

If you really want one it will no doubt be bulletproof reliable. And the semi-auto gearbox was good fun.

I have one in the stable and had it for two years.

Use it for what it is - a town bike for commuting etc and it’s the best thing ever. Will cruise nicely at 55 mph if you want it to but it’s tiring for any period of time.

I haven’t worked out the exact MPH but £3.80 will get you about 90 miles before the fuel gauge flashes but there still a bit to go.

Build quality is ok but you’ll need to ACF the centre stand regularly especially in winter.

The looks are questionable but at 51 years old I’m past caring what people think and it’s a hark back to the original.

All in all I love it for the daily commute although I’m selling it now as I don’t really need it anymore.

Same here, CT in my eyes looks way better. I would buy it straight away if it was available in UK. Great little bikes either way.

Thanks, everyone.

Yes, performance is probably borderline for faster roads - depending on traffic conditions it might be fine some days, but slightly underpowered on others.

I think MGZTV8's bike looks good, and I prefer it to the Postie bike style. I don't suppose you're anywhere near the north of Scotland?

What sort of mileage have you covered, and has it been fairly reliable?

I think these guys can procure you one: https://www.sevenseasmotors.com/bike-detail/Honda-...

- there's a few pics of them in 'Customers Bikes'

I had the new 125 Monkey bike for about 2 years and loved it. I only got rid of it as it gave me really bad back ache in the end. I think the 125 Cub would have been the better option, this range of bikes is really frugal and cheap to insure. Incidentally Honda are bringing out a new “Dax” 125 which looks great.

I love the look of the Dax but saw a dealer suggesting they will be £4K,

Have you considered any of the larger capacity modern scooter-like things?
All I know is there is a bit of choice out there, and those who ride them say good things about them.

Top speed 55mph translates to 'very slow up hills'.

Frequently being almost flat out can't be good for anything IMHO (apart from maybe 17 o riders?)
I rode a C90 for a bit in the early 80s, never got on with the centrifugal clutch, possibly the one I had was not a good one.

I had an MSX125 and that did about 120-130mpg, from memory. Took just over a fiver to fill the tank in 2013.

For me, the insurance, even with nil NCB, was slightly more than the Suzuki SV650S that replaced it but still under £100.

Regrettably, the famed Honda quality has lost a bit of its shine since they moved production to Thailand.

Mine was fine, 50mph can become tiresome unless your in the city, the fuel capacity is a joke, the seat has a recall on it as the electronic release sometimes wont let you put the seat back down and the paintwork on the plastics scratches very easily. Also its not real chrome its chinese plastic chromed tat.

For anything other than predominantly urban use, it’s the wrong machine. And they’re 3k secondhand still. No storage, neither. A better bike is the pc125 scooter, quicker, more storage, better round town too.

I was looking forward to the CB125M

I currently have a CB125R. It’s a brilliant way of getting around.

I've just got a PCX 125, 55-60 cruising, 120mpg it's good fun as long as you don't spend too much time on dual carriageways.
