As the title really does anyone have any experience of using an Abba stand?
I've recently bought a new to me cb1000 which has a single sided swingarm, I bought a bobbin kit which bolts through the rear wheel, but it just doesn't sit right on a paddock stand, it leans over to one side, so much so I managed to lay it on its side taking it off the stand....
I want something to make cleaning it easier and for chain maintenance and according to the website an abba stand looks like its the solution but wanted some real world feedback.
If you have one does it completely get rid If the balancing act to get the bike off the ground?

Have a Abba stand, as all the above, works really well, easy to use, and very stable when mounted.
Used it on a couple of bikes now, buying the specific adaptors means you can use it on lots, and the additional front lift kit is worth having.
I wouldn't mind a skylift, but costly, and the normal Abba stand seems to be all I need.

Have one too, got the normal stand, plus the trolley thing.Used it on a couple of bikes now, buying the specific adaptors means you can use it on lots, and the additional front lift kit is worth having.

Didnt bother with the front lifting thing, just used a ratchet strap between the swingarm and a ground anchor to lift the front up. Or could use a hydraulic lift on the midpipe but didnt want to risk fking them up, not sure how strong they are!

Can't you get a single-sided paddock stand for it? I have one for my Monster and it's solid as a rock.
They sell a kit but I believe the hub diameter is too narrow on the CB and the bar ends up bending under the weight Maybe get yourself a solid steel bar and string it across a standard rear stand instead of the paddock stand bobbins? Should be a good deal stronger and not silly expensive.

I had the Abba front lifting stand. It simply lifted under the down pipes. A bit of ply acrss the pipes and a small jack (both likely already availalbe in most peoples garage) would do the same job. Ah yeah, 18mm doesn't seem like a lot of diameter for a single-sided pin...

I expect you’ll find that a standard paddock stand wouldn’t lift it high enough to do that as bobbins are usually under the swing arm and spindle hole will be a few inches higher. I found on the KTM 990’s the pegs would foul the abba stand just as it was on the tipping to where it need to be. The pegs folded at a slightly different angle as the stand was being pulled and wouldn’t flick up on their own, so you had to fold one by hand whilst pulling back on the stand.

Abba stands are fantastic, good family run company as well. I've got a Superbike stand for my CB1000R (2012) and you have to undo the standard insert on the superbike stand via the little grub screw and slot in an alternative but all the necessary bits come included with the CB1000R fitting kit. It's no hassle at all. Just watch some of their Youtube videos that demonstrate how easy they are to use.
When using it, you might imagine that it's secured and tightened by the big brass screws on each end of the stand, but it's the little plastic screw on the bottom bar of the stand that has the most important job.
