I need additional protection, now I ride in just a helmet and back protector.
I need a wrist brace but I also tweeked my knee going through 8 inch deep clay/mud and numerous dismounts throughout the day.

So it got me thinking,I am under protected and vulnerable when I come off.

What do you wear and would you recommend what you wear?

Everyone different but I wear:

Long hinged knee guards (winter ones have neoprene making them very secure)

Alpinestars "vest" with elbow, shoulder, chest and back protector & kidney belt built in

For rocky terrain I'm buying some armoured shorts as I want hip / thigh protection as it hurt when I came off in the Peaks

I bought loads of stuff (new & used) off ebay and sold on what I didn't get on with.

I tried the forcefield limb protectors (that I use on road) but even in a light fall I got terrible bruising which I haven't with the proper off road type

I have armoured shorts too, sometimes wear then, sometimes don't as they are a pain.

I have a light all in one upper body thing that covers arms, shoulders and chest, armoured shorts, knee/shin pads.

I used to have more heavyweight body armour like this: https://fortnine.ca/en/fox-racing-titan-sport-jack...

but it didn't fit my body shape so I sold it. I don't wear a neck brace or knee braces as I'm not racing or riding that fast.

Get some proper knee braces, I left it too late to get some and knees take forever to heal

I know several people who do it, some wear the bare minimum just MX gear, some go massively overboard with full protection. It depends but I would say a mixture of stuff to protect knees elbows and chest good gloves and boots that fit well and are worn in. and a drink pack.

Proper sturdy boots... gloves and helmet/goggles. That was it.

Leatt 6.0 impact pants (under trousers), Alpinestars SX1 knee guards, Alpinestars Bionic TechV2 vest.
Tech7 boots, Klim Dakar in boot pants and suitable jacket for the conditions.

Get some decent knee braces, as knees are easy to screw riding enduro (or mx) and don’t heal overnight
Other than that and the normal kit, I wear a light chest and back protector

Apologies as slightly off topic, but can you enduro type blokes suggest decent elbow protection? I suffered burstitus a while back & the slightest knock inflames the damn thing. Even putting on a jacket with stiff elbow armour inflames things - more modern D30 stuff is better as more flexible, but after an hour or so riding, elbow aches like st.....

I use the forcefield limb tubes for my knees (on road) as I found the armour in trouser pockets moves around too much - I don't think they offer as much protection but I find them very comfortable - if interested have a google as there have been many variations of them.

Here are the current ones for elbows & knees:
