I ride a Speed Triple and I've bought another which is covered in carbon parts, mudguard, hugger, side panels etc - I thought I'd ask before swapping them over

I recall car bonnets used to go milky and / or dull - is that still an issue ?

Stone chips etc ?

No issues with quality parts, My MV has most plastic parts as carbon, its still as shiny as when it was new in 2015.

No real downside other than cost if you break it....

Thanks that's what I was hoping

I've found carbon parts are frequently cheaper than new OEM parts, in fact not much more than the cost of respraying in many cases

My old S1000R had a good amount of carbon on it and the front mudguard had a few stonechips in the laquer, but you really had to look closely to spot them. The laquer of the heel guards on the rearsets wore through a bit too, but the carbon beneath was perfect.

The only downsides is that it makes your balls tighten when you wreck them in a crash.

No problems on mine either, the carbon on this bike must be around 10 years old if not more. Not a blemish to be found . Also just treat it as normal paint and wash as normal , so no real extra fuss either

What about the fake carbon wrap stuff?
I saw a wrapped Speed triple recently - it actually looked quite good! I assume its a pain to stick on, what with air bubbles etc, but does it suffer from UV/weather exposure??

I think you'd struggle to wrap lots of parts - I considered hydro dipping but most people suggested it would harm resale and I never keep things long

The only things I've changed on my bike are the tail tidy & end can - I tend to agree with you regarding resale value....
