Hello all,

As the title suggests, I'm considering an Aprilia Caponord 1200. I've read that the 1200 Dorsoduro engines (shared with this bike) are reliable and well built. Aside from the odd electrical gremlin mentioned by owners, I can find little evidence of major problems. Magazine and owner reviews suggest that it is a great bike, however, I'd be very keen to hear from someone who has owned one longer term smile. The bike I'm considering has covered 11k miles.

Thanks in advance!

I own the old ETV1000 and it is an amazingly good bike, I love it. The owners group is also superb, the forum is at AF1 and there is a fb group also.

A few owners went to the new model, it is a fantastic bike by all accounts. Apparently it is not as spacious as the old model for a pillion, very comfy for the rider, it is equipped with ADD electronic damping and the engine is supposed to be a cracker too with a lot more power than the outgoing which is no slouch itself.

Definitely worth you checking it out, Aprilia make fabulous bikes and this is another very underated bike.

I also have a ETV 1000 for the last 20 years from new , all my pals said don't buy a Italian bike it will never last they said LOL . The 1200 is a low production numbers adventure bike and offers fantastic value half the price of GS . Got to be worth a go as its all proven components . Better if you are hands on rather than having to rely on dealers as there aren't many around .

I've heard mainly positive things about the bike - mainly around the sheer quality of the ride. I was put off by lack of dealer support around me.

I ride with a mate who has one. He loves it. (He came from a 1200 GS LC and really rates the Aprilia for VFM. He has had it about 4 years now so it does something/everything right) It needs suspension set up correctly and although I believe is specced with a 180/55 rear, rides better with a 190/50. I rode it for about 20 miles and enjoyed it (coming off an Africa Twin, took some getting used to)

Thanks for the reply, would you mind asking him if he has had any major issues?

Best,
