Like most here probably I don't use the horn on the bike very much but the one I've got on the Rocket3 is rather pathetic sounding so I had a look for something better and found the Denali soundbomb dual split. Anyone tried this?

Found the soundbomb mini to be fine (upgraded the africa twin horn as it was pathetic). It now lives in a nissan micra as it was an upgrade to that factory horn as the ktm that replaced the africa twin has an adequate horn. It isn't much larger than the standard horn and doesn't need an additional relay.

I am thinking of upgrading the pathetic 'toot-toot' horn on my KTM 690 SMC R. Is it a case of simply swapping it out for something aftermarket, or are relays etc required???

My question as well really. Do you need a relay for the Soundbomb mini? My CB1000R's factory horn is pathetic, although it's so high-pitched and piercing that it does get attention, which I guess is the purpose of it. But if the SB Mini is louder (and plug & play) then I'll give that a go. The Soundbomb Split looks good but space is quite limited and everything on the CB1000R is tucked in quite nicely so I would imagine it would stick out somewhere. A little more space on the Rocket 3 biggrin

I did fit a Stebel Nautilus Compact to my Hypermotard and that was brilliant, but needed a relay unless you want to blow the fuse each time you use it, and I just can't be bothered with that again, would rather find an upgraded horn as an instant swap.

Can highly recommend the Stebel Nautilus horns fitted on a car as well

used one on my 2018 africa twin without a relay with no issues, it was much louder than standard and a deeper note.

I don’t know about relays, hadn’t thought of that. I’ll find out and post up the answer and also how it goes if I get the thing installed.

Not to highjack the thread, but the answer to my above question of 'do you need a relay for the Delani Soundbomb Mini?', is no.

I got one over the the weekend (£20 Amazon) for my CB1000R, it's the same shape as the original horn so fits nicely in the bracket and took no more than 2 minutes on my knees in the garage to change, and is a hell of a lot louder than the pathetic factory horn. Highly recommended clap

I would imagine you need a relay and wiring for the Soundbomb Split though. It seems similar to the Stebel Nautilus horn.

Not trying to hijack either but, other than during an MOT test I can't remember the last time I used the horn on a bike.

Maybe it's different if you commute/ride a lot in city centre though?

That said, fitting a relay is good practice for anything using a decent amount of current (especially on old Italian bikes).

I, like Driller, live and ride in France and can confirm that a loud horn definitely has it's uses!

Stebel Magnum is worth a look, it's the Nortilus's little brother, nearly as loud but only single tone, however it doesn't need a relay to run it.

I have an electromagnetic stebel magnum hidden in the fairing of my VFR1200F which is pretty loud and a stebel nautilus air hon on my cbf500 which will wake the dead - SERIOUSLY SERIOUSLY SERIOUSLY loud.
