So I am coming out of 2006 forced retirement and getting back on a bike this year. As it is also my 50th I figured might as well spend my pennies on a bike rather than a daft party or holiday.

I was looking at the Ducati Cafe Racer and T100 & T120 but have opted for the Ducati as it is lower to the ground for my 5'4" short ass and lighter as I am recovering from a foot injury.

So my question is, what does one use for suitable luggage? I used to have oxford soft panniers for my blade back in the day, does anyone use these, also (yes this will ruin the bike) are there any alternatives for grabrails? I am not looking for carrying touring gear as this will be an about town toy mostly as most of my biking mates have also retired but I will be carrying my 10yr old daughter on the back.

Cheers

Avril

https://ventura-bike.co.uk/ are popular with the Monster lot. Couple of fairly discreet rails to fit, then can swap between a plain grab handle and a rack to support one of their bags (available in various sizes). The rails themselves are fairly quick to put on and off if it's just for a long trip away.

Brilliant! Rail with bag would be handier option than panniers. Cheers.

I'm sure I still have an old rack / handrail that I used on my Full Throttle model.

You can have it for the price of the postage of you want it?

Thank you I may take you up on that but….. I haven’t bought the bike yet. All that I require is a phone call in march. If I don’t get a phone call the purchase is delayed biggrin

No worries.
The 800cc Scramblers are cracking little bikes so you won't be disappointed if you do get one.

Not going to lie I had to get a calculator there as I seem to mark stuff by what car or bike I had at the time and not the year biggrin I was 34….. unless of course you are saying I look younger than 50…… have I got that right? Jesus now I’m doubting my frazzled mind. laugh

Cheers, the duke did take my eye first but put the T100 & T120 into the mix as the seating was slightly flatter. Now I know I can get a rail and potentially put a bag on the back it’s winning the race. While mummy has long since left her crazy driving ways behind her once my child arrived I still want to make sure she feels safe on the back as it’s seat is slightly higher.

Take a look at the Oxford Pillion Belts as well.
My son was a similar age as your daughter when I took him on the back of the Scrambler and it helped with his confidence on the back.

Also, if you're not a right fat knacka, I have seen Kriega R3 waist packs being used to strap young pillions and the rider together.

Have a look at the SW Motech Legend gear panniers, their mounting rail (if they do one for the scrambler cafe racer) is very discrete, and they are super easy to clip on and off. Not massive though if you need lots of space.
