Hi guys, long time lurker here.

Just wondering if any of you have experience with transporting a bike in the back of an adapted van? I've been looking at SWB Peugeot Experts but I think they might be slightly too small for a sports bike (CBR600, ZX6R etc...)

Has anyone used an adapted van for this purpose and if so offer some advice? Any help would be much appreciated!

Cheers!

I haven't, but I believe Nathan Millwall (postie bike or something - may want to do a search on youtube), runs one

I've got a 2020 Ford Torneo Custom for my disabled daughter and I had this very thought when choosing a suitable vehicle.

I think it should swallow my R6 without too much trouble, although I've not tried it yet. The ramp is rated to 300kg, so no issue there, and the wheelchair restraints would also work well to secure the bike to the floor.

How soon do you need to know if it fits? I could unpack my bike from the garage and check it fits and how the securing points line up if you need me to. It might even fit with a rear paddock stand on to provide greater stability.

I’ve got exactly the same and tbh, if I’m in my wheelchair there’s no chance of getting a bike behind me. I’f I wasn’t then there’s plenty of room.

Some years ago now I used one of the converted Renault Kangoo vehicles to transport a Gilera Runner scooter. It went in there fine once I'd taken the mirrors off, and secured the bike down.

Any idea on which company did the conversion on the vehicle you are looking at? I know someone that works for a company that does the conversions so I'll check if they used those Peugeot's and point him to this thread.

Thanks for the offer, I'm in no particular rush to get a van. Hopefully before the start of summer. I also think that the Ford might be out of my budget for now, however it would be good to see how the wheelchair restraint system could be used to strap a bike down.

Just from my search on Auto Trader and eBay there seems to be a few different configurations. Some have a flat floor while some have a lowered centre section.

I think to get a bike to fit, it will either have to go in diagonally or if there's only two seats in the front; I might be able to push the bike in backwards and have the tail in between the two front seats.

The one van I've had chance to look at had a recessed floor and three seats in the front which eliminates both options above.

If your friend has any ideas then I'm all for hearing them!
