I have to pack a load of bikes into a double garage - currently I'm stuck at 16

If I could shift the front and back tyres over a few inches then I could get more in

I've seen the rear paddock stands with casters on but as most don't have bobbins and some are single sided it's not ideal

A modified hand truck lift and push each wheel over but I'd struggle to get individual bikes out once they're packed in, as I couldn't get the trolley back in at the side

They are in two lines so I have space at the front and back, I was wondering about a car type wheel skate or whether there is a better bike equivalent as 650kg is slightly OTT

I can't help but that's a serious hoarding problem collection you have there.

Centrestand dollies are cheaper, and could be stuck under a tyre to shift it sideways. I've only got the one bike, but with limited room in the shed so have just gotten the bullet and bought one.

Not that exciting - I'm dealing in them and my insurer will only cover them in one building

That would be very handy to get the backs where I want them

If I could afford 20 of them would probably solve the problem

Not sure I could get them out once I've packed them in unless I leave a dolly under the back wheel but I think I'll buy one and give it a go

What you got in there, anything interesting?

These?:

Going to cost you a bit to get 16 of them but I guess if you've got 16 bikes that's not an issue.

If that's an issue you could use a pair of these but it'll be more sketchy moving them...

Probably not - I buy anything I think I can make a profit on, currently everything from VStrom, MT07, KTM 950 / 990 SM, R1200GS, Speed Triple R - generally my market is sub £5k

Top one would be ideal but as you say I'd need 20 so not worth it

Yes the bottom option was my first thought - I figured one wheel at a time should be ok

That’s where the most fun is had, i reckon.

On your MaccyD idea - Get a more slippy floor? I'm sure there's a reason that showrooms have tiled floors.

I was thinking about holding a bike upright by a single grip point - without using the stand the other day when I was waiting to disembark the ferry.
I thought of an articulated locking arm dangling down from the ceiling ( think dial gauge stand) with a clamp for the left handgrip.
just thinking that an upright bike takes up less space than one on it's sidestand and you can get them out easier from between two other bikes.

I think that's for looks and cleaning but actually isn't that expensive to fix a rough floor

Agreed but 20x £50 wheel chock is £1k and TBH all the bike dealers manage without them - once they are all leaning the same way the saving is minimal

I got a set of the Dynamoto stands a couple of weeks ago but they might be a bit on the spendy side for twenty bikes! However, if you could prop the bike up by the front wheel in a wheel chock (with a rocker or bump to keep the front wheel in place) which had castors, or even the "two way" wheels like on the Dynamoto stands you would have a lot more mobility. You could steer it like a forklift. Stand at the front of the bike, grab the handlebars and pull it onto the wheel chock. You'd need to keep the chock in place which could be with locking castors or just a flap of metal on the front of the chock which you can weight with your foot to interface with the ground.

Two sets of three rails going in to your garage , Each bike has a three point dolly, one flat bit over each rail, bearings underneath and an adjustable stop so it doesn't hit the next bike. You then attach a folding rail to the end of the rails that drops down when you have the garage door open so you can push all the bikes out until you get to the one you want.
Finally you make an on/off ramp to get the bikes on and off the dollies.
Fag packet drawing by someone who can’t draw :

I’m sure this may be a good way to play bike dominoes so am in no way responsible if you actually do this unless it works.

Will be sketchy as heck, but will move them. Two of them for less than your link OP.

For those with a centre stand use the centre stand roller movers.

Thanks I've looked at various ingenious solutions but I think I'm sticking with low tech

I've ordered a cheap skate as I think one end at a time will be easier to control

It's simple enough to pick up and move and MT-07 but a 1200GS is a different matter

So the SGS skates arrived - they were almost twice as big as I expected

I bought two as an experiment and because they might come in handy for moving cars

One works as well as expected and enables me to easily slide the bike one end at a time

Obviously I had to try two - I waited until my wife got home as I thought it might be dodgy...

Imagine a 220kg bambi on ice laugh if you had two blokes and you really had to, it works but it could get really painful / expensive quick - I'll be sticking to one
