Anyone seen the (rather amusing) story on this? I must say I stopped watching him a long time ago due to falling asleep through his videos but this caught my eye the other day.

Eight fking grand willingly spent on changing the back end and a bit of a paint job on an Interceptor!?!?!?!?! They really must have seen him coming a mile off.

I don't like seeing people ripped off bit I thought the same. The timings and excuses would have been enough for me to pull the plug. The point where he willingly hands over another 4k was the point I thought this is nuts. 15k for a bike worth 6 is mad money but I don't know anything about modding bikes. I know it's not cheap but 8k.

I can't imagine he'll get the 600 quid Vat back from a company now in liquidation. He's either very niave or has more money than sense.

The end result with the logos was tacky and idea for the stiched TMF logo on the seat... rolleyes Each to their own.

I felt very sorry for the bloke. He's been thoroughly done over. I suspect that the idea of the customisation is that as well as giving himself something unique he gets fodder to drive views. Amazing that he would agree to spend so much money customising such a low value bike though. Think what he could have done with any other interesting older bike.

The number plate that's been fitted is illegal too - can't have black and silver plates unless the registration number itself dates back to when that was the standard format. Since the number is RE65 TMF (a nice reg for the bike, admittedly) that won't be the case.

My brother in law got fined for the same offence, so it definitely happens.

I couldn't believe what has been spent on what is fundamentally a cheap and cheerful bike. I don't mean that as a criticism either, I'm after a Continental GT for my garage.

Here's the breakdown of what everything cost, there's a few hundred that could be shaved off here and there (nearly two grand for paint/graphics and powdercoating!), but it's dripping with overly expensive parts. A grands worth of exhaust and a £650 numberplate for example.

I feel for the chap, I enjoy his videos and he comes across as a normal bloke who's indulging his passion. He's been done over massively by the bike den.

Poor bugger, although why on earth he coughed up the extra £4k is beyond me. Still he's turned a fairly pleasant looking bike into a gaudy money pit, lucky that Chris is a decent bloke unlike the RE dealer!

I've no idea how that reg is £650. It's a standard number.

Edit - fk me private plates have got expensive. Last time I looked a standard number was £140.

I watch one of his utubs now and again. He comes over as a nice honest bloke and has a grown up attitude of not slagging off everything and having massive opinions.
You get the idea maybe the bike was some sort of joint effort and they let him down by not being much good at customizing.
But rather than use his channel as a soapbox he has just let others make thier minds up.
Of course its not like the world isn't full of bikers that bolt every aftermarket accessory possible onto a bike as they flail away claiming they are an individual.

Having seen the latest video now it doesnt reflect well on anyone shown.
My advice is if you cant bolt a few pathetic accessories on yourself just run a standard bike.

Not a big fan of TMF, as he comes across as someone who has more money than sense. However I still feel for him and would not wish this kind of misfortune on anyone.

Bike Den are right c***s.

Yeah, I feel bad in a way but SURELY anyone would start questioning the highly suspicious circumstances and the amount of time even with the initial 4k......

I saw in his comments that he replied saying he had a family bereavement and business issues at the time, so took his eye off the ball. But yeah, looking through the narrative of what happened, alarm bells would be ringing for sure.

Part of the fun of biking for me is getting my hands dirty, I know everyone has their skill level, but I'm sure he could have managed to achieve that result himself with minimal outlay in comparison to the job done..

Pretty much how I see him/it too, clearly not ended up how he wanted it, but carried on as usual rather than getting all influencer bullst about it

Age of bike, not age of registration mark.

If you transferred "A 1" to a 2022 bike it would still need reflective plates. smile

Oh really? In any case, still subject to a fine if you come across a copper in a bad mood.

Agreed. Do it yourself or don’t do it cos it’s a bit sad to try and buy “cool”. Personally I hate the tracker/scrambler genre. Total hipster vanity guff. A roadbike with knobblies on and the rear end hacked off will never be a credible off-road bike and will be compromise the bike on the road… so just why? If you want to go “scrambling” go buy a dirt bike and do it properly. And don’t get me started on BMW Boxer based customs…..

I really feel for him. He seem like a really decent bloke who’s been taken advantage of, perhaps because he seems so plaicid and laid back. He deserves better.

I for one really like his videos. As a middle aged bloke who came to biking quite late in life, I like his approach and his reviews have a real world application that I can relate to. I do like some of the more out there guys (44 teeth for example is a great channel) but I’m much more likely to bimble around the Surrey Hills on a retro Triumph than get my knee down going round Portimao on a Supeleggera and I appreciate a channel that celebrates that.

I think he’s been bloody generous about the Dealer that screwed him. He’s got quite a following and could have been a lot more vindictive after being shafted so badly.
