Hi all

I came across this https://www.yamaha-track-experience.co.uk/shop

It's an all in one track day + bike/equipment hire, proper "arrive and ride" stuff, and having never done a bike trackday before I thought it looked good as a starting point, as against jumping in the deep end and buying a track bike. It's a little more expensive than (say) an MSV track day plus hiring a bike from Smallboy, but not by much and they have a lot more availability at Brands. I would want leathers hire as well which I don't think Smallboy offer.

Any thoughts/experiences of them on here? I'd be looking at Brands Indy as it's my local track and I know the circuit well (in a car).

Thanks

I dont know the Brands guys, but know the Silverstone lot, and it's a slick outfit up there.

Very friendly and some decent gadges wheeled out for the Masterclass lessons, McKenzies, Corser, etc etc.

I'd be surprised if it is not top notch tbh.

Thanks very much - think I may treat myself on the basis of "saving" money compared with getting a track bike and some new kit biggrin

The trip up to Silverstone would be worth it to, it is a cracking track to ride, the facilities at the Wing are better than any you'll find pretty much anywhere and they run a real slick day, i know.

I think they may be running the new R7s as well as R1s on this next year? Used to be R6 and R1s. Shame to lose the R6s! The R1s were bloody quick but everyone came back with massive grins riding the screamer R6s!

Thanks for that, food for thought indeed! Silverstone is 2+ hours away versus about 15 minutes to Brands, but I could go up the night before, nice meal, few beers, I guess. Saving money hand over fist. rofl

They are running the new R7s but alongside R6s and R1s in 2022, as well as (at Silverstone only) the MT-09 SP.

If your going on a track, on what's basically a race bike, do not have any alcohol at all the night before.
I wouldn't drink 3 days before a race weekend or trackday back in my day.
You honestly will feel the difference in a frightening way!
Reactions will be useless, and a split second travels a long way.
I stand by that advice.
Enjoy your experience, have a pint afterwards!

I’ve used them for bike hire and they are ok, but prefer Smallboy.

Have crashed bikes from both and found Matt from Smallboy charged me far less than he could have done, & was keen for me to get out again, whereas the I paid the full excess value for the others and they weren’t fussed about helping me to get out there again, not that I was in a fit state to.

I’d use them again, but not first choice.

I’ve also used MFM and like them, but don’t have any experience of crashing their bikes.

Wouldn’t mind having a go at Brands Indy on their experience day, not too sure about doing it on the R7 though, think the extra £50 for the R6 would be worth spending.
I’ve got an R1 already and think it would be pointless spending the extra for one as I’ve not got the talent to put one to proper use around somewhere like Brands Indy, I’d much rather go on the 600!.

Thanks guys all really good food for thought especially around excesses/crashes etc. MFM don't seen to have updated their website for 2022 yet, I'll message them. Smallboy don't seem to be an option at Brands really (v.limited dates).

I'm tempted by the R6 or R7 at Brands Indy with YTE (I'm a total novice so it'll be about getting out there) and perhaps going on their May "track skills" day with off-track instruction included.

PS - Don't worry, I wasn't suggesting some kind of big night out before the trackday!

Smallboy seem to always be at Brands for the No Limits dates, but they don’t do MSV ones.
