Hi folks,

a friend of mine has a 2007 Honda 500. I think... its a cb500. He's lost the key for it and been quoted 350 to have it sorted with a new lock by daytona ruislip, which I think are an authorised Honda place, no issue there.

He wants to spend as little as possible, the bikes only worth a grand. Do you think this is a DIY job or maybe find an expert or last resort pay the 350?

Thanks in advance and no I've not got a stolen bike! laugh

Seems a lot. A key and ignition and seat lock set second hand off eBay should be 40 quid or so, and should be fairly bolt on by any half decent mechanic.
Often a bit of care to get old ingnition off, for obvious reasons, but normally just use of ‘security’ studs that need a proper socket.

Give these guys a call. Few years back I bought a bike with only 1 key and was worried if lost it would cost a fortune. They made a replica of original and coded the chip to suit ECU, didn't cost much. Not sure, but think even if you've no key they can copy a key off the barrel and match the ECU if you send them the parts.
