I only need it for a few weeks but bloody ell used prices are ridiculous. I'm not paying close to 3k for a old 125 in the depths of winter.

Apart from autotrader where else should I look?

Edit that's within close enough to be able to view it. Not 200miles radius set on ebay....

Ebay, I've just had a look and there's a couple of hundred for less than £1000 at the mo.

Ive always looked on ebay and autotrader and often wondered where all the cheap bikes and car are.

It looks like Facebook marketplace is the answer?
I'm surprised, never looked on there before.

I've had a look on there. Ideally I'd want a Honda or Yamaha and within easy deliverable distance to Manchester. I've also got to avoid any that look like they might have been used for deliveries!

Thats the kind of thing that had a couple of grand premium before the pandemic price bubble, never mind now, unless you want one that needs work.
Some of the chinese stuff is pretty decent now, look at sinnis for a decent cheap 125.

Too old for the money and too far...

Sinnis that's a good call.

This looks good

Too old for the money? I sold my 2005 Honda XR125 with 15k miles for £1200

I'd much rather have the Honda than a 2015 Sinnis.

I completely sympathise with your situation.

I bought my girlfriend a YBR125 after ages of searching earlier this year. 125’s are either:

-Trashed and thrashed
-Sub £1k and ropey
-Too much money
-Priced so close to a new one for a used example, may aswell buy a new one

They just appeared to be hideously overpriced as you could pick up a 600cc bike for the same money, the problem is is that the audience is massive for them. The price margins between a poor example and a good one are very small also.

Keep looking, keep alerts on eBay, AT etc and be quick when they come up. We ended up with a 2017 YBR, immaculate for £1695. We brimmed it, I rode it the 40 miles home, she couldn’t get on with and I sold it on a couple of months later with half a tank still in it for £1850.

Stay patient, good ones come up, you just have to spend days trawling through utter sh**e. And however desperate you get, do not buy one of them Chinese bikes. Stick with a Honda/Yamaha like you said and you’ll get your money back all day long if looked after.

laugh you won't pay that for the Honda which will be a much better bike but will pay that for a Sinnis.

Family member just bought a car through FB Marketplace. Seems like a decent buy so far & she only needed to travel locally.
As for Chinese offerings: a work colleague had a secondhand Kymco 125cc scooter. It was badly neglected - never cleaned & kept outside without a cover. She left it out for over 4 months last winter & amazingly it started on the button in spring! Very easy to knock Chinese stuff, but I was amazed at the build quality for the price.

I was thinking that!

I sold my 2005 Honda Varadero 125 with 18K on for £2200 a few months back.

Give me a Honda/Yamaha everytime over any Chinese bike. I've had the displeasure of riding a 2019 Lexmoto, it was bloody awful.

I did say the bike was in the south east which isn't suitable as I'm in the NWest.....

I could get a bike delivered within reason but I do need to throw a leg over it. I wouldn't buy unseen.

You might have upset a few Taiwanese people and owners of Kawasaki J300's with that post.

How about this? You could run it for a few months and get your money back in the summer.
