Grinding noise - clutch?
Discussion
I own an imported Honda CB190X, single cylinder 190cc air cooled bike with 16,000 miles on it, recently after a 6 week rest it started to have this what I can only describe as a grinding noise when being ridden, this is typically more audible in the lower gears and it only makes the noise when accelerating. The noise is consistent but sounds like something slapping around (I thought it was the chain, despite that being in good health).
I spoke with a mechanic who diagnosed the problem as the clutch spring(s) that are worn out and I need to replace the clutch plates and spring(s) - does this sounds a feasible explanation?

Could be. I had something similar with a new Triumph. Main dealer told me it was normal. Sold it a week later.
Thanks, thinking of taking it in tomorrow to get resolved, the clutch does seem lighter than normal and occasionally is difficult to get into first (this could of course be my imagination!) Gassing Station | Biker Banter | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
