Which thrashable fun bike?
Discussion
I havent had a bike for a couple of years, I'm now contemplating a return.
My previous bikes tended to be larger capacity naked Triumphs and Ducatis.
But I'm after something different this time, after downsizing my car from 560bhp to 82bhp (lol) my current frame of mind is "small and nail it all the time".
I'm 49, bit unflexible, I just want a comfortable bike that goes well enough on A and B roads, sounds nice, makes me look back at it and say "yeah". Commutes and sunny hoons.
Reviews etc have come up with;
KTM Duke 390 - Looks great, sounds like a lot of fun.
Triumph Trident 660 - again looks great, bit pricey compared to the Duke
Aprilia Tuono 660 - looks nice, pricey but superb PCP deals about currently. Would be cheapest if I paid monthly via pcp.
Discounted;
Huskvarna 401's - I really like both but I think the vit is too "lean forward" and the Svart is a bit bland
Honda Rebel 500 - like the looks but seems a little average otherwise?
Anything else Japanese - they just dont appeal to me really
Anything else I chould be considering?
Cheers

You couldn't get more thrashable and fun, plus it's comfy for old people.

I'm a bit biased, but an Aprilia Shiver 750/900 might be worth a look? Had mine (750) since March and it's usually the 'go to' bike for rides round the lanes with mates. Not fast by modern standards, 90hp or thereabouts, but it's fun and easy to get on with. Done a couple of long days on it in the summer and never felt uncomfortable. Or if you prefer the supermoto look, the Dorsoduro is very similar.

Most fun bike I’ve had is the KTM 690 SMCR. Not very comfy though.
+1The 'Ergo seat' seems actually less comfortable than the OE version!
However, great fun, expensive, but decent quality running gear. If you're up for thrashing something for an hour or so you can't go wrong.
Whilst I love KTM the 390 is bit cheap and nasty and unless you're a teenager who's new to bikes - too slow to be fun IMO
I'd suggest a 600, then TBH it's what you like the look of.
Personally I hate the cafe racer look and find supermoto bikes the most fun at sensible speeds so my preference would be KTM 690 Duke / SMR / SMRC or Husky 701
If you want more revs then any of the current middle weight twins, whilst the Street triple is arguably the best it's getting a bit too quick from your description
I love the 950SM as suggested above but if you thrash it you'll be 100+ everywhere and probably on one wheel although I find I can ride them more sensibly than the small thrashy bikes

Re the Trident: I have a street triple S 660 derestricted to 95bhp and test rode the trident. Of the two I’d definitely go with the triple.
Noticeably faster, felt more comfortable and more stable. I’m still new to riding but the trident felt like I’d imagine a moped feeling.
It seems like they discontinued the triple S now.

Loads of great suggestions, many thanks
Budget is probably £5k to £7k or so, new or nearly new would be preferable.
Anyone ridden any of the following?;
