That was on that site at the end of June.
It was bid to over £100k when I last saw it.

Odd one to call on price - considering the other one is £200k

Either way it'd make an interesting collectible for a big garage, or fantastic fun to unbox and use!

A real shame to see such a fantastically engineered bike, designed and built to go fast, go no where. Such a waste.
If I could, I would ride that thing at every given opportunity.

Would rather have had this one:

The Honda is newer and objectively “better” but the Desmo still looks prettier to my eyes. I’ve not heard the Honda but wonder whether it sounds as good.

I saw a Desmo at a bike meet a fair few years back, and I don't think I have heard anything as loud or angry sounding before or since. It was awesome!

Can hardly believe how minty that is for having done 10k miles.

I'd have a Desmo too, although as one of my mates suggested, buy an ex-MotoGP or WSB instead

The RCV and Desmo are world’s apart in terms of engineering. The Desmo is bested by the 1098R in almost every way (and certainly from a pure performance point of view) and the quality of engineering and finish on the Desmo is no better either. Look at an RCV up close, however, and it is simply a different class altogether. A truly bespoke and spectacular machine.

I think you'd need some deep(er!) pockets to get anything famous or from one of the big MotoGP teams for Desmo money, but there was a couple of the CRT era PBM bikes sold recently:

£25k: https://www.bonhams.com/auctions/26978/lot/454/
£29k: https://www.bonhams.com/auctions/26978/lot/451/

I was thinking of £200k for this RCV213 kind of budget, plus some healthy change for a MotoGP bike. After all, if you're splashing that kind of cash for a collectable track toy, another 100k probably won't matter too much.

Those CRT bikes are cool though, they almost seem cheap for what they are.

Ah sorry I thought you meant for Desmo money.

Yeah they are cool. In the same sale there was this, which I think was a pretty blue-chip investment for someone!

Saw a couple Desmo years ago (not long after they came out). One was at Oulton Park and had been crashed on a track day and was damaged all down the left hand side The second one I saw was coming away from Moto GP at Silverstone and it was absolutely bucketing it down. Good to see them being used!

Has anyone published a comparison between the CBR1000RR and the RC213V?

I saw one in a train of bikes exiting the town I live in on a hot day a few years ago. Sounded absolutely immense amongst the R1’s and BMW’s it was with.

You could you and buy a V4R from the showroom with a warranty and go just as fast if not faster than the RC.

you'd never be as cool.

a v4r would never look as good, it wouldn't be as special either.

Yeah of course! I'm just pointing out if you're basing desirability on speed alone then it's pointless... A Desmo is still incredibly cool.

£177k is a lot of money for a bike.
