He'll be 50 years old and it will also be his 100th TT start.

As someone in his late 40's who likes riding and driving I find this news both inspiring and uplifting.

McGuinness, you're a legend.

Episode 29, if you have not heard it already.

Even as a non bike/TT fan, I enjoyed this.

That has got to have been one of my favourite CC podcasts that had me laughing out loud on a good few occasions.

Brave, brave man. I just hope Honda have sorted the quickshifter/electronics after his last bike chucked him off at the NW.

Quite agree.. as someone who turns 50 next week it’s definitely inspiring to see John still competitive, still at the sharp end of the TT. It’s great news that its back next year, hopefully he & everyone else will have a safe one.

Maybe slightly cynical but I can see him getting a few more "wins" on the electic bikes to boost his tally, but do they really count?

Well he's not won every electric bike class he's been in, as teammates can be quicker.

Plus there is no electric bike class currently, and may or may not make a return.

Why do his electric wins count for less,he still has to get around in one piece.

The electric lap record is quicker than the ultra lightweight,do you dismiss Robert and Joey Dunlops achievements as well.Of course you don’t but the question is why?

Stick to the hopefully-returning electric bikes and use his charisma to promote them. Although a hero of mine…along with the great Joey D…McGuiness should retire from the Senior…he’s 50 for christs sake! His reaction times will be marginally-slower on a circuit that is so unforgiving. I fear that it’ll end in tears. 🤞

There's no competition except from whoever is on the other Mugen bike. It does seem a bit iffy on the overall tally imo, even though yes they still do a 120mph lap.

I struggle to see the correlation between the Junior (or light weight) from 20 years (plus) ago and the electric TT.

The circuit is much better and tyres are more advanced. Furthermore, the 250cc was over 4 laps. Winning on those 250GP bikes was a real achievement.
