I've had a spare battery on an Optimate4 trickle charger since November 2015. It was only used in the bike literally a couple of times and then it was put on the charger and it's been there ever since.

The Optimate4 readings suggest it's in good shape but after that length of time, do you think the battery will be compromised to a large extent?

Edit: the title is supposed to say "trickle charger" hehe I can't edit though which isn't much use...

I'm 15 years and counting with one of my batteries... always connected unless I'm riding the bike.

Just realised that is with the same charger as well.. an old Hein Gericke one!

Should be fine assuming it's a lead acid - biggest danger is the charger going mad and either completely discharging or over charging the battery which kills them very quickly, if that's not happened should be tip top.

Massively depends upon the charger and the battery

I've got a lidl one and a CTEK MX5.0 and a CTEK Time to go

The lidl one is useless, the "Time to go" isn't much better the MX5.0 performs miracles
