I’ve placed an order for the new BMW CE 04.

I think I’m the first in the country to place an order, or at least in the first few, so that’ll hopefully translate into a very early delivery.

Test ride should follow as soon as they have one available.

Not sure how I feel about that.

One part of me thinks its the ugliest bike I've ever seen but then when the guy is zipping about on it in the video, at points it looks a bit like Tron. But then that's probably more the helmet and the jacket, so, no, I don't think I like it.

But I'll still look forward to your opinion of it post test-drive.

Which colour did you go for?

You may get it before someone I know gets their Italjet Dragster delivered.

I think it looks ok. I'd quite like a white one as it'd look a bit like a Sinclair C5.

It doesn't look like there's any scope for a top box though which makes it a total waste of time, in my opinion. Massively impractical!

I thought it was only me who kept a Top 10 New Scooters List, at last some people of a like mind.

Good luck OP, be interested to hear what you think if it.

I like scooters but fifteen thousand pounds? Mental. Think of all the interesting bikes you could commute on for that type of cash.

Each to their own.

£12k for a base model that needs an hour charging minimum every 60 miles and looks like someone stuck some plastic fairings and wheels on chest freezer and slapped an i3 screen on the bars.

Madness.

Enjoy though OP smile

15 grand!!

I think for that money I'd buy a Sur-ron for s#its and giggles, and a second hand Nissan Leaf if I was desperate to go electric.

It’s not either / or though, it’s to go alongside a Husqvarna 701 Supermoto, Husqvarna 701 Enduro and an R1200GS.

Yes, it’s expensive, but it’s to replace my X-Adv, which wasn’t much less.

I’ve ordered it in white.

There’s storage under the seat, but yes, without a top box it won’t be much use to me.

Reason I like my 300cc Vespa is that it's still small enough to walk around cars in London gridlocks.

That thing looks to have the wheelbase of a drag bike.

Bet it's stable at speed though, unlike my Vespa.

There’s every chance that if I don’t like it enough after a test ride that I’ll get a Vespa 300 instead.

The best scooter I had was an Aprilia Sportcity Cube, which was Vespa-sized, but after having three stolen I switched to less popular models.

Thanks for the colour update. Nice 701s.

I am not a Scooterist, but the new Italjet Dragster looks pretty cool to me.

I agree, but it’s only available I 125. I’d be really tempted if it also came as a 300.

That bike has roughly the same top speed as a full power 125 . . .

I don't see the appeal of electric stuff yet, but if you have the money why not.

It’s for use in London, so top speed isn’t really a consideration. What’s nice there is immediate pick-up and a bit of “punch” away from the lights.

We’ll see, it’s going to need to be very good to win out over a £5,000 Vespa.

Actually I unwillingly went to look at one back in September. I thought I was going to see the new BMW electric motorcycle - the Vision DC Roadster. My friend sent me a message with a picture saying they are "coming out soon." So I rang Motorad in Maidenhead all excited and enquired about their new electric bike. To my surprise they said they have a demonstrator in stock. I jumped in the car, drove 20 miles, and they offered me a coffee when I walked in so I took them up on the offer. When we walked over and had a look, the convo went something like:

Me: "Is this your new prototype?" I enquired...
Him: "No that is available to pre-order for November"
Me: "Where is the electric bike then?"
Him: "This is it!"

I showed him the picture of the Vision DC roadster and he said he had never seen or heard of it hehe

It is very "in your face" style wise and I liked it. I even said it looks like something out of Tron. From my previous electric car experiences I would say it has a winter range of around 50 miles. The acceleration will be epic and the build quality typical BMW.
If I had a spare £12k and I was commuting and had to choose a bike to do so, this would definitely be on my list. Quirky, ultra fast accelerating scoot will be fun on your way into work. It should also have a factory fitted tracker (no app but BMW will know where it is due to the telemetrics on board) and hopefully it is too heavy to be carried into a van.

My dream electric bike is a Lightning LS 218 with the 20KW battery (My Renault Zoe only had a 21KW battery!)

Good luck and I'm looking forwards to the updates thumbup

Love a Vespa 300……I have had a couple and still have one.
