With effect from 5th November 2021, MCE Insurance Limited will no longer be placing new business and renewals with Gibraltar based MCE Insurance Company Limited. If you are an existing policyholder then your policy will continue to run as normal for the duration of your policy term. Should you need to make a claim, make a change, access your documents or contact us about anything in relation to your policy, you will still be able to do this up until your renewal date.
In the meantime, MCE Insurance Ltd is working closely with an alternative provider and it is our intention that we will be able to offer quotations for new business and any expiring renewal policies with the new provider within the coming days.

Ok, I've found the details, thanks.
I know the reviews of them weren't great but they were notably cheaper than other providers. The next nearest one I could find for cover was at least £200 more in price. I was happy to take the punt with MCE and I actually didn't have any issues with them last year when I was rear ended. The breakdown recovery was fine too.

I'm insured with MCE and got the same email last night.
I've always been a bit wary of them purely on the basis of them being so much cheaper than my other quotes - but went with them anyway as I'm running a cheap bike to build up some NCB again after a 10 year break from riding.
Never had to claim so can't comment on how good/bad they are when you really need them.

Google says they've signed a deal for Sabre Insurance as their exclusive underwriter.

Unsure whether I should ride my bike if the underwriter of my current policy has gone bust regrdless of what MCE say.

The email I got from them states clearly that MCE is authorised & regulated by the FCA, so hopefully there will not be any issues.....https://www.marketwatch.com/story/sabre-insurance-...

MCE may be the only choice if you live in London. No point saying, "oh just get someone else" if there is no one else, or if the someone else is an additional £1,500. Both are quite realistic scenarios in London.
That's pretty much the issue I've had over the last few years.I continue to receive emails from MCE about once per week. They change the goalposts more than our current government!
They seem to be taking on new business now through a different underwriter, but existing policies, including mine, will only be honoured if one claims through the FSCS, & even then, they will only honour up to 90% of the claim & looks like a horrendously long winded process. I doubt I'll reinsure with them, but presumably exactly the same thing would happen if a different insurer went under.

I'm getting the same emails as Biker 1.
My insurance (with MCE) expired today.
MCE provided a renewal quote which was still very cheap - but Carole Nash (now part of AXA I believe) were cheaper, albeit not including the breakdown cover that has always been a non optional extra with my MCE policy.
Renewed with Carole Nash.
Hope I don't have any problems getting NCB proof from MCE if CN ask for it.
