Odd one this, just bought a 2002 Aprilia Mille, mint condition 17k.Only been out on it three times as weathers been a bit hit or miss, anyway.First couple of times i was out bike was flawless, however yesterday i was going to pull over as my new leathers were up my crack, just as i pulled in for, adjustments it died and i just bumped it and caught it from stalling altogether,i managed to nurse it home but had to ride the clutch all the time at roundabouts to keep it from stalling, about half a mile from my house it cleared itself,i got off the bike when i got home, kept it idling but just as i keiled it over on the stand the low fuel warning came on???
My first thought on this stuttering was it felt like low fuel but light wasn't on while it stuttered. There was fuel in the tank as i heard it swishing around, but thought i'd fill the tank up and it's been fine since?
Do these bikes switch over to a reserve or something hence the stuttering and my low fuel light was just late in illuminating and warning me?Sort of lot confidence in it a little.Any ideas on such a short fuelling problem?Cheers

I had a Futura that did something similar. It turned out to be the coils.

Just found out bike has a self diag feature on it to show fault codes, done this today and no fault codes, It only showed 'diag 1' on the dash which seemingly refers to the tps,and should read '0'.
I was told bike was chipped,so would the throttle position sensor be messed about with and set to '1' due to that?I've read it's simple enough to turn the tps sensor so the dash reads '0' but just want to rule out if the tps is fiddled with during the eeprom chip install? Thanks.

Edit, regarding the tps, it might be wise to actually check the throttle stop is properly adjusted before adjusting the tps.

Don't be disheartened, it's probably something minor, and as I have learnt myself bikes are rather pleasant to work on.
There appear to be some good Aprilia forums which might be a better place to ask.

If it was stood for months/years before you got it the fuel will be stale and I guess worse as it gets low.
It could also be unrelated to the fuel and just coincidental, there are a few vacuum lines to check (see Aprillia forums)

Could be blocked fuel filter.
Could be a weak pump, as it will be "helped" from the weight of the fuel when full.
Could maybe be the fuel tank vent is blocked and so as you burn fuel the tank is under vacuum so pump struggles to pull more fuel out. Would slowly equalise when parked up.
