I don't mind admitting I'm a bit of a fair weather fairy. I don't mind it cold, and I don't really mind a bit of rain but when its cold, wet & dark, biking is the furthest thing from enjoyable for me.

At the same time, I miss the hobby, the tinkering whilst waiting for the next ride, and i'm always on the look out for something else to fill in the blank over winter.

As the mercury drops and nights draw in, what is it you lot do for winter? Doesn't have to be biking related, if anything I'm more interested in what people do to try and replace riding as a hobby.

Hibernate until March LOL!!

I tend to pick up mountain biking again through winter, and I've also got a smart trainer hooked up to Zwift at home so I can keep up on the cardio, plus going to the gym... I'm not a big gym fan, but I like circuit classes.

Maybe go out hiking if the weather is OK too.

I also dabble at DJ'ing and tend to lock myself in a room with the decks thinking I'm the next Pete Tong ....hahaha!

Mostly do maintenance jobs in the garage which may fill a few days spread over the winter months at weekends.

Have a dog to walk daily and use indoor cycle with zwift for fitness on rainy days instead of outdoor cycling.

On dry but cool days will get out on the bike for a ride.

I’ll be spending quite a few hours on my track bike, giving it a good going over ready for next year.

I’ve also been looking at trials bikes recently, just something to mess about on over the winter.

Other than that I can be found on the sofa eating biscuits, drinking tea, watching videos on YouTube about stuff I mostly can’t afford!!

Christ, great minds!

Looking at trials too, unfortunately local club is yet to re-open due to COVID.

I picked up a non running 1985 BMW R80RT that I'm ruining by turning in to a trendy cafe racer. Which I then hope to turn in to a nice profit come the spring.

Tinkering with the wr250f as the wiring is a bit of a mess, plastics and graphics could do with a refresh and I've no record of valve clearances being done.

Other than that it's Brazilian JiuJitsu a few times a week, Wahoo SYSTM (just moved to it from Zwift) and weights in the garage. I pretty much just spend as much time as I can freezing in my garage on my own pottering with "stuff"

As long at there isn't ice/snow on the ground I'll continue to ride.

Apart from that, I have a garage that I use to catch up with services / change fork oil / rebuild various parts.. and I this year I have a mild rebuild to get on with...

Plenty to do during the winter months! lol

Commute on my scooter. Take the Guzzi out on fine, dry days which coincide with my rest days. Piss and moan about the weather and the darkness most of the rest of the time...

I wouldn't go out for recreation if it is raining in winter, but otherwise normal riding, but obvs less recreational riding due to less daylight. I made a point to go out when it snowed last time, I think that was last winter. I avoid single track roads as they tend to be ungritted and full of sludge.

Sounds like you need to spend more £££££££ on winter gear wink
