When Are You Winterising?
Discussion
Still on 2 wheels but the weather is turning. Was thinking about getting a new bike specifically for the winter but not a fan of freezing rain etc.
Put me handlebar muffs on today and resolved to fix the non-op heated grips asap, but reckon I'll be lucky to get another 4 weeks before it's back on 4 wheels.
How about you?

I keep saying it, but I find my heated gloves far better than my old heated grips. I've yet to fit my muffs, so I don't know whether a grips/muffs combo would be as good or better. I've bought a scooter for the winter as documented elsewhere. Mainly, though, because the kind of winter stbox I've been using for the last 4 winters doesn't comply with the new Clean Air Zone in Brum and bike parking is free.
There won't be much winterising as I don't really care that much if it dissolves, but I'll give the brakes a rinse every so often and probably spray the hose underneath occasionally.
Heated grips, heated vest, thermal linings back in the textiles. That’s all the winterising I need.
The bike has tolerated 7 winters without acf50 and only being washed three or four a year, and should do many more yet. Cosmetically it is fine, Triumph build quality has been excellent - there’s no white fur on bolts and so on. I wipe over lights and mirrors and so on, and mechanically I’m very sympathetic and service it well, but as for ‘winterising’ - no chance.

Sold mine last month and bought a car, have a long commute on stty country roads then lots of motorway and the thought of doing another winter blasting along in the freezing cold didn't appeal to me at all! If I could afford 2 vehicles I would have kept it, but will most likely sell the car and buy another bike next year
I’m bikeless at the present but normally the end of October is about it for me.
The odd sunny day I’m tempted but it’s more the crappy state of the roads that puts me off. Leaves, damp patches and tractors depositing muck everywhere.
I bought the OH new gear for next year including heated gloves that with the heated seats should get her out pillion a bit earlier. As well as the novelty of a new bike. Otherwise it would be May before I was out again normally.
Never. I'd probably feel different if I was forced to do a long daily commute in all weathers, but I actually enjoy riding throughout the whole year. In fact the hot days of July/Aug is when I'm more likely to switch to 4 wheels and air conditioning. Riding at this time of year is all about having the right kit and not going crazy speeds.
No Winterising as such as mine are in a heated workshop. I have sorn'd the 916 but left the Monster taxed for now as I'm hoping to get out on it in the next week or so but will be sorning it before December as I don't need/want to ride if it's cold or wet.
The old Guzzi will remain taxed all year because it's free! so I have got a bike that will be legal/ready though I'm unlikely to be riding it before March.

Put my muffs on a few weeks ago. Only needed tp use my heated grips once so far (I wear summer gloves all year round). I have a Keis heated vest as well which really helps, really recommend something like it if you're out regularly.
For those interested in the stylish option that is handlebar muffs, I use tucano ubano. Tied loads of types, but TU have been the best. I also put on some barkbusters parts to act as a frame to stop the muffs pushing on the cluthc / brake lever at higher speeds, works really well so thing about that too (I keep the metal part on the bike, switch between the plastic handguards in the warmer months then take them off and put on muffs in the colder months. Muffs are good as well when it gets a bit damp, your gloves stay dry which means your hands dont get as cold.
