Autotrader/biketrader??
Discussion
Anyone still use the above?
Was going to list my FZ1 on eBay, but they wanted too much personal info for a classified and seemed to be pushing me towards taking payment through them, which I’ve no interest in, so I listed the bike on Autotrader instead.
I used to look on Autotrader all the time when browsing for a new bike, but less so in recent years - am I in the minority here, or have I just wasted the cost of the ad??

I’ve been browsing it recently while looking for a new bike.
It seems mostly dealers that use it now (at least for the models I’ve been looking at)
I like the search facility that can narrow the search down quite tightly.
If I was selling I’d try any free ways first…gumtree, Facebook, owners forums before spending any money.

Were you using the ebay "cash on collection" option? Shouldn't push you down ebay payments that way (they don't want you using PayPal now)
Admittedly I haven't sold a car/bike on ebay for a few years, just usual junk
It was a classified, but in order to list wanted DOB etc so they can ‘send’ me payment, at which point I stopped.Admittedly I haven't sold a car/bike on ebay for a few years, just usual junk
Have listed previously on an FB OC, but generally steer clear of Gumtree unless desperate.
I often browse AT, but have sworn off using it due to the cost.
I listed a car a few years ago and paid £40 for the pleasure, after a few weeks they rang me (despite opting out of phone comms) and asked me to renew for a "bargain" £48 for another term. Needless to say I sacked them off, whacked the car on eBay and it sold in a week for a small haggle under the asking.

Selling anything has just become a ballache these days.
I now avoid ebay, They are now deducting their fees from your sale price, charge a final value fee and selling fee. I sold some tuning hardware for 450 and ended up with £360 after they deducted their fees. It wouldn't chafe so much if they paid any tax at all in the UK.
Also if you try to put a mobile number in communications, they'll take a sale fee directly from you.
Suddenly £40 for bike trader seems quite fair.

That's not the case for classified bike ads though - sold my bike through them a couple of weeks ago - just paid a c.£20 fixed price. Selling a fzs1000 myself and facebook has got me nothing but likes with no offers.
Gumtree has got me 3 low ball offers, 1 semi ok offer without seeing the bike and following through and a hell of a lot of will i take a ps4 and a old non running scooter sort of offers.
I just put it down to wrong time of year and plan on putting the fzs in storage and forget I own it tbh.
