New bike day, something orange this time
Discussion
Popped into town earlier for a few bits and pieces and ended up buying another bike!!
I've just moved house and I'm on the edge of Salisbury Plain now, keep seeing guys out on the green lanes so I decided to join them.
It's a 2017 EXCF 350 in the obligatory orange. My first ever experience of off road bikes so I decided a 4 stroke was probably sensible. Less than 2k miles and 100 hours on it

Congrats. Brilaint bike. I've got a '16 Sixdays 350, and it can be a bit of a jekyl and Hyde bike. It'll pull the wrong gear if you f up, but in the right gear and the right revs it can be a bit of a handful. Great on fuel so can do long greenlane rides, and for racing, especially at my lowly sportsman level, it'll do a 3hr hare and hound comfortably.
Oh and mines a bit against the grain, it was white, but now it's black!

The previous owner of mine has clearly spent a fair bit on it, its got the sixdays triple clamps, mapping switch, akra, etc. I'm an absolute novice off road so I'm hoping the slightly more user friendly nature of a 4 stroke will give me a bit of a safety net while I'm learning the ropes.
That's the beauty of the 350. Click it up a gear and it'll lug its way about, and can be reasonably civilised on the road. But it can lift its wheel at 50+ and do a half decent job round a MX track if needed.
What's your plans for it? What gearing has it got on it? I've got a few different options for mine depending on what I'm doing. 13t front and 52t rear for racing. Then either usually 13/50 or 14/50 if I'm going greenlaning. But I have got a spare pair of wheels so easier to sway about. Rears arnt cheap to just try, but genuine front sprockets are less than £15. Assuming you've got a 52 rear on it now, the 14t front will keep the revs down a bit on the road and still plenty of power for off road stuff. I'm in South Wales, so loads of right woods with plenty of roots and ruts, so a 13t front allows a proper crawl without stalling.

To be honest I've no idea what sprockets are on it. I've no real plans other than hitting the lanes and learning how to ride on dirt!!What's your plans for it? What gearing has it got on it? I've got a few friends who race MX so I'll just wobble around behind them for a while till I find my feet

Well it didn't take me long to fall off, took it out for a run this afternoon and within 10 minutes I was on my arse
It certainly can be a painful learning curve so when you get bored of falling off I can highly recommend this ladies team for some excellent training on how to stay upright PS Excellent choice of bike!
It's funny how different the on road and if road factions of biking are. My mate with his sportsbikes would be devastated by scratching one with a button on his jeans, his forbid dropping it. The thought on dragging a bike down a stoney hill or being peppered by roost from the bike in front would make him cry I think!
I went out fir the first time in a month or so last weekend couple of little drops, plus one rocket stole pastiche trying to get over a log and I landed on my arse on time to see the bike shot 6ft in the and land land against a tree. That reminds me I need to order a new clutch lever to replace the slightly bent one!

Nice bike! I have just bought a 2011 150 XC 2 stroke and love it.
I've done a couple of training days with Desert Rose and am off to Mildenhall MX track this weekend with a couple of mates. Also found some green lanes very local to me which I will explore soon. I didn't realise i would enjoy off road riding so much!
