22.06 helmets – more noggin protection

What could be more exciting than a new safety regulation?

Rumour has it, ECE 22-06 certification means we can buy helmets with more noddle protection. 22-06 certified helmets are the Arai Quantic, Shoei NXR2, Shark Spartan RS, HJC RPHA-1 and the NEXX X-R3R. Is that it? Really?

Tomorrow, we have a “world premiere” from Schuberth. Perhaps we’ll add one more lid to the list.

Recently bought an NXR2 for commuting, touring, etc. Very happy with it so far.

I understand that 22-06 comes into force in 2023 and only applies to ‘new model’ helmets so current models can continue to be sold under the existing standard.

22.06 is already "in force", but not the only required standard for new lids until 1st Jan 2024.
