Don’t worry I’m not going to be one of those ‘your on camera’ types!

I want one for my commute just in case and also looking at doing my advanced riding with IAM so can rewatch my rides to pick up on things.

Years ago I had a Drift camera but it used to run out of power really quickly. Have they improved? Is a Go Pro a good choice still? Ideally I’d like one that I can download the videos to my phone if that’s even possible?

Thanks smile.

Get one which is bike powered and also which starts recording automatically when it gets bike power. These generally have a disconnector terminal in the power lead, so they are safe to put on your helmet. The lead will pull out if you have a crash. You can also get them with endless recording, ie starts wiping over old files when the card fills up. This way you just plug it in and forget about it. If you want the footage, then you can download it.

I’ve had a couple which do what I said above. Current one is a Drift, but it’s a few years old.

I had a GoPro years ago expensive and lasted 13 months, maybe better nowadays

Had a cheap chinese camera for years and it's still going!

Bought a Drift camera at start of year, really like it easy to use battery lasts all day on a trackday

Have a look see what you think?

I installed an innov k3 on my bike for commuting purposes. Very discreet and fit and forget. The footage is pretty decent too.

I would forget to charge a gopro.

Recently bought a Drift but haven’t set it up yet as it doesn’t fit on my commuting helmet (NXR2).

Can only comment on the GoPro and the battery life is dreadful.
I wouldn’t recommend one but if you do get one then make sure you get a few spare batteries for it.
