I'm looking to add a second motorbike to my garage, something smaller than the Touring bike i have for rides out having a blast with mates instead of getting the bigger bike out all the time.

I've come across a very good deal on a nice smaller bike approx £1700 off list and i'm in the process of sorting out a PCP deal. But in the back of my mind i'm thinking am i daft to buy a bike now when (lets be honest) its going to be sat in the garage for the next 4 or 5 months (weather dependent).

The deal is very good but maybe i should wait until next spring but will the deal still be around, i doubt it as i think Dealers will be able to shift bikes easier then rather than now its getting colder and darker...

There's always another bike and another discount.

Why wait? I bought a 2016 gsx s1000 on friday ideally to replace the fzs1000, But I am now thinking of keeping the old fzs as a winter hack ( a rather good winter hack saying that with only 21k with all the googys like ohlins etc etc)

Typically the best deals are between now and March - Dealers need to sell so are willing to discount

Only you know whether the discount is worth it to you but I can guaranty my prices will be higher in March than they are now (but they might go down further yet, if I need to shift stock)

I think it’s the fact I’m taking the bike out on a pcp deal and for the next few months it’ll barely get used due to weather that’s got me saving doubts…

Maybe I’m being daft just overthinking a cracking deal.

To be honest its pissing me off that I'll be paying for the PCP on my bike for at least 6 months without me using it, never pcp'ing again because of it, I've paid over 3k over the last 3 years for a bike to sit under a cover in the garage.

Why’s that?

Yeah it’s a Tuono but not from there as they only had the Gold colour left and the new deal includes a IMU.

At some point it’s going to sit out the winters anyway.

Just make sure you’re really happy with it so you don’t have to consider selling it while you owe more than it’s worth!

Because I live in the very north of England, it rarely gets above 10 degrees and is usually much lower, I refuse to ride in the cold and wet on ste covered roads, its not fun, there's no joy in cleaning the bike after every ride or having to struggle into multiple layers of kit and not being able to see anything due to a visor covered in crap and the low sun (if it appears).

That's why smile

If you're doing a PCP and its based on complete years, then it makes no odds when you start doing it, You get x summers out of it.
A while ago there were some Abarth Spider 18 month lease deals that were in stock in September, that's taking the mick. one summer and two winters from a rag top.

From a financial point of view is it cheaper to keep the same bike over x winters, or buy in spring and sell in autumn every year for x years.

I'd guess you'd probably want to have a new bike each year, that's got a cost, but it also is an opportunity to try x new bikes out to see which suits you.

It sounds a good deal. The price of new bikes will soon increase with inflation, or lack of supply could firm up prices, for next season so if it is a perceived bargain then it won’t hang around all winter I suspect

My bike is not used for 5 months of the year and that is one of many reasons why I’d just purchase outright. I also like to own things.
Similarly with a car I’d rather own it as your circumstances can change. Sometimes I can do 2,000 miles per year and sometimes 25,000 miles. A PCP just sounds like an unnecessary faff to me.

I had the same dilemma last month. My prized Z1000 r-design went in for it's first annual service while-I-waited and I PCP' d a 1000 Versys whilst it was being worked on!

That was not the plan! Indeed, there was no plan, but 10 days and 1000 miles later I'm super happy to be managing my (smallest of...) fleet's. Got a great deal and the Versys will see me through the rubbish weather and salt-roads, plus is a very refreshingly different ride. Life's too short folks....

Purchased it today…

Delivery next month, might be able to squeeze some dry days out on it over the next couple of months then avoid Jan/Feb.

Congratulations. Which colour scheme are you going for?

Seeing this thread lastnight had me checking sub £8000 new bikes on Autotrader so I am now aware of the Z650 Urban. I resisted the urge to call an Aprilia dealer I've visited before about this deal today. I am a sucker for a bargain and I checked out the reviews lastnight. I saw a used one at a dealers last week and assumed it was an RS660 until I stood beside it and saw Tuono it. Size wise it seemed as dinky as the Z650. I am not good at high maintenance or molly coddling and think I'd have the matt paint finish on the tank looking decidely secondhand before the warranty expired.

The previous paragraph is because I've had a minor tussle with myself overnight having '£1800 off list' FOMO man maths justifications since learning from this thread about the deal.

I went for the Black/Red I really like the Grey/Red as well but the black edged it.

Really happy with the deal and get a free IMU as well, couldn’t get the quickshifter thrown in so I’ll pay for that but a massive chunk of money off and a IMU I’m happy with.
